I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Chico Hot Springs during my visit to Yellowstone. I did not stay at the Inn this visit but enjoyed my visit to the pool.

Chico was for years an absolute hidden gem that was family owned and incredible in so many ways…sadly under corporate ownership, far too much had changed for the worse (including the formerly amazing customer service) that it’s now just another resort that has lost so much of the magic it once had (and could still have, with better ownership). Such a shame to see this happen to such a piece of history.

My overall experience here was very nice - friendly people, great hot springs, quiet surroundings. But the rooms were fairly bare bones. I know they’re going for a rustic feel, but not even a TV in a king size room that you’re paying luxury rates for in 2024? I appreciate rustic decor, but it was almost as if they’re using it as an excuse to not decorate. They don’t even have real locks inside, only a chain.
The bed was pretty terrible, lot of motion transfer and my sleep was disturbed at best both nights I stayed here. There are no thermostats in the rooms either and the window won’t stay open, so good luck if you’re staying here in the summer (which we thankfully did not). Please also note that some of the comparatively cheaper rooms don’t even include a private bathroom and you have to use a shared bathroom. I guess that’s one way to ensure an early-1900s feel.
I will review the restaurants separately, but considering that this resort is in such a remote location as to need a 30 minute drive to even get a basket of fries, I would have really appreciated it if their restaurants didn’t close up so early. They have a poolside grille and saloon but they stop serving food at 9pm. This is exclusionary towards younger clientele who might wish to eat after 9pm like we did. Alas I had to content myself with a box of Pringles and some jerky.
They do have an attached spa that you almost have to hike up to from the main lodge, but it closes at 4pm and they don’t pick up most of the time.
All in all, good resort for the hot springs, but the amenities have a lot of room to improve.
Food and drinks: Overpriced is an understatement. My steak was so terribly undercooked that I ended up puking my guts out.

We stayed in the main hotel. The rooms are great for what they are! Very well kept for an old place. The staff and employees were helpful but also very playful! My 5 year old and I had a great time with her grandparents.we were so relaxed we didn’t want to leave

A Montana Must!
We stayed in the Shooting Star Cabin for our 2 year wedding anniversary and it was everything we dreamed of and more. The service was great, amazing views, and the hot springs themselves were much needed

Such a gem in the middle of nowhere and a perfect place to relax, eat wonderful food and get pampered. I had the best facial and massage from Ali and Jenny. I definitely recommend them if you get spa services. Thank you Chico for a wonderful stay!

After over a decade of coming here I am still surprised by rooms I haven't yet stayed in. The Lower Lodge king suite is terrific and dinner was amazing as always. Get the prime rib tip starter.

We booked Chico Hot Springs Resort & Day Spa for a "splurge" night on our honeymoon across the country. Little did we know, we would actually pay double for the "splurge". We spent a significant amount of money at Chico between our room, the spa, drink and dinner...twice?
Please be sure to either not pay cash or dont give your room number. We spent the afternoon at the pool and treated ourselves to drinks. The attendant requested our room number to "charge to the room". I insisted on paying cash and tipping in cash. We gave the room number when he persisted but followed with "but we will pay with cash". We then ventured inside to the restaurant where we ordered dinner, once again they insisted on knowing the room number. We also paid cash for dinner, handed the receipt, cash and bill folder to the server and left. At check out the next morning we were shocked to see the drink and dinner charged on the bill. We immediately brought it to the attention of the clerk at the desk. He looked through the receipts from the restaurant from the night before. A whole stack of receipts and ours wasn't in there. He returned and told us he "had no record of the transaction" and "Im sorry I dont handle that, you will have to call and speak to a manager later."
I called every day, every. single. day. and have been transferred, sent to voicemail, deferred, and not called back. Not a single call back! I did not leave a $175 tip to the server for less than mediocre service. I think you can see why there was no receipt for our service. Seems the server pocketed our cash and "charged the room". Chico Hot Springs Resort & Day Spa flat out stole from us and has made no attempt to rectify their crime, which is what it actually is, a crime.
I would also like to make potential future guests aware of the cabins on the hill. If you are considering staying in one, dont. They are super tiny. The carpeting is not even carpeting, its paper thin fabric that is so old and worn it's literally shredding. The cabins have no updates since the 70's? 80's? There were 2 outlets in the whole cabin. The beds were small, we couldn't even sleep together, on our honeymoon. The only positive, the rooms were clean. Hats off to the cleaning service.
Chico Hot Springs Resort & Day Spa you have far exceeded my disappointment. I'm beyond upset we spent any money here but I'm grateful it was only one night.
If you are considering this resort, I'd think twice. The pool doesn't make it worth it. There are far better places nearby.

This place is legendary but they need to get their dining reservations system and customer engagement operations together. We made dinner reservations on the website as directed. When we arrived, the host did not have our reservation.
They also don’t answer the phone and direct you to leave a msg to confirm, change or update reservations, but seems they don’t listen to the messages. We have had 2 poor experiences this summer and the first was so bad we didn’t stay for dinner.
Maybe it’s the new management? After coming for 25+ years, I hope the get back on track.

Wow! Beautiful cabin. Deer visited at 12am to snack on the grass, incredible birdwatching, sunrises and sunsets. Enjoyed relaxing with the horses and experiencing the hot springs at night with the stars.

Awesome place to visit with disc golf course, horses, hot springs, bar, and restaurant! We enjoyed our stay in the wagon, which had air conditioning/ heating, and the bathrooms were pretty nice and just a few steps away. It is a gravel path though, so consider packing in a backpack or duffel rather than a rolling suitcase.
