Hours: Thompson River Animal Care Shelter (TRACS) is a private non-profit and no-kill rescue. Its mission is to give dogs and cats a second chance at life by rescuing animals from kill shelters, offering them a safe haven and the opportunity to find loving forever homes. The shelter brings up homeless dogs from kill shelters, including from Texas, to find homes. It takes in as many dogs as it can and helps even the most frightened and hard-to-place dogs from difficult situations. The staff is wonderful, great, knowledgeable, professional, and caring. They are very professional and caring. You can tell they care deeply about their work. The adoption process is wonderful and they vet potential adopters thoroughly to ensure a good match, especially for dogs needing rehabilitation. Animals at the shelter are loved while they are there. Dogs from the shelter adjust well in their new homes. They follow commands and settle in, learning to overcome initial fears. With dedication, even the most frightened dogs can bloom, become snuggly, and learn to play. The shelter is fantastic and highly recommended for anyone looking to adopt an animal from a wonderful shelter with a great mission.
