“Here are just two reasons why I love volunteering at the Purple Frog Gardens: one is that I meet people from all over the world and while we play in the dirt, we have the most unique and wonderful conversations. This last volunteer Wednesday, I had the best time with Laura, who sang a mean Jimmy Rogers' tune complete with yodeling , Tim who (in his mind as he was plugging scallions into wee plastic holes) completed his soon- to- be block buster stage play which will début at The Purple Frog Gardens then quickly move to New York (of course it will) and ...one of the charming owners of the farm, Mike , who will oversee the entire production, not only of the play but of the produce. This is an example of just one of the many conversations, call them fantasies if you will, that transpired in minutes. We also get to mull over some of the great questions that puzzle those who enjoy geography, biology, politics, botany, anthropology, philosophy and the arts. The other charming owner of the Purple Frog Gardens, Pam, prompted by a recent viewing of Game of Thrones, wondered why Jon Snow did not so much as pat his wolf on the head when he said his final goodbye to it? Of the myriad of possibilities that were posed, I chose the following. You don't pat a wolf on the head for the same reasons that "you don't tug on Superman's cape, you don't spit into the wind, you don't pull the mask off an old Lone Ranger and you don't mess around with Jim".(Jim Croce.)The second reason I love volunteering is that after gardening from 9 am to 1 pm, we can choose, from a stunning array of fresh organic produce harvested that day, all we need to keep us healthy until the next Wednesday.Don't know the difference between a scallion and a shallot? Ask anyone at the Purple Frog Farm this coming Wednesday.”

“I met with the owner Robin and her knowledge and enthusiasm is dynamic! Such a great service for the community to educate and encourage back to local production of vegetables and herbs.”
