Almost 18 years ago I attended camp at Carol Joy Holling. Two of the boys in my group physically assaulted me when the group got ahead of us on a trail, and threatened to stab me to death in my sleep. My camp counselor was an absolute muppet, and he downplayed the situation so absurdly that to this day I use the term "camp counselor" as an insult. It wasn't until one of them picked up a large sharp object and threatened to run me through in front of him that he realized how wrong he had been. Still, I left the camp feeling terrorized, uncared for, and unheard. This Google review is the first time I've spoken of it except to that counselor. I still have a little stuffed bear with the camp's name to remind me of my trauma.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Hope you are willing to take your kid to counseling and therapy every week for the rest of their lives after attending this camp. My son was so traumatized coming home from this camp. I would love to get a lawyer and file a suit against them up. do not send your kid here. It is not a safe place for children.

The food was good and the old town was like out of a movie set. Super fun. Try the high ropes course our paddle out in a canoe your choice but you can't help but have a great time here.

This camp is a gem! Our family held its reunion at the camp. There were 16 of us and we all had hotel-like rooms in one of their buildings. The cafeteria was downstairs from our rooms and the cook staff provided wonderful meals for us. We also had the use of a large meeting room to hang out in for visiting with each other and playing games, and the outdoors on this beautiful campus offered hiking trails, swimming and kayaking. Our family had the best time in an environment that gave us beautiful, air-conditioned space with meals that we didn't have to prepare and lots of room for our group. The camp staff bent over backwards to accommodate dietary needs and also to take care of us during our stay. I would wholeheartedly recommend this camp!
