I went in to switch from Verizon to US Cellular and get a free iPhone. They told me I could get $100 in accessories and I would get a $100 rebate. Well, she checked me out and the text never came. She said to give it a few hours and if it never came, call or come back. That was Friday. No text came. I returned Monday. They tried turning off the thing that's supposed to screen texts. No text. They said they put in a work order and I should receive a text in a few hours. Friday, I called the store because I still didn't receive the text. The store told me to turn my phone off and back on and call back and make sure the texts weren't getting screened. They said there was nothing they could do and to call the 611 number. I called the 611 number and they transferred me to someone who had me put my phone on airplane mode and they called me back and transferred me to someone else. I never got the text. I called the 611 number with my father and they transferred me and transferred me and someone who barely understood English told us to ask the store about a barcode and he couldn't help. We went to the store together. They said they didn't know about any barcode, but they could reach out to their manager and their manager would call me. Days went by. Nobody called me. I never received a text. I called the 611 number and got someone friendly and useful who reassured me she would make certain it was resolved then and there and she apologized for the run around and asked to put me on hold for while she spoke with her lead. I was on hold for 4 minutes and she asked whether it was okay if I didn't have a phone bill for December and they credited my account nearly $200. I don't know why the store couldn't do that right away. It felt like a scam. Plus the lady at the store said I had to have a special charging block and USB cord for my iPhone 14 because no other iPhone charger would work. I plugged my new phone into the charger I already had in my car and the chargers I already had at home and they worked sure enough. Both people at the store told me I couldn't return the accessories no way. That's a second reason why I felt like the good folks at the store were just trying to scam me out of my money. I'm new to US Cellular and all this scheming and giving me the runaround is my first impression of the company. I'm left wondering whether I would have been better off staying where I was.
