David City has a treasure that is worthy of a destination trip under an hour from Omaha. Bone Creek Museum currently has a 20/20 exhibit of 20 curated Nebraska artists in addition to native son Dale Nichols. Don't let the unassuming exterior fool you. This little museum was a happening place at 10:00 am on a September Saturday morning. We parked at the door and were warmly greeted by Barbara who proudly told us the history of the building and gave us an overview of the current exhibit. We learned that exhibits change every three months and pre-Covid have had a public opening with exhibiting artists. I was impressed with the excellent lighting and display of the artwork. A small gift shop and restroom is located between the two exhibit areas. We signed the guest book and shared our address for upcoming mailings. No admission is charged but a jar for donations is available. We are looking forward to Bone Creek's next exhibit!

I felt it was a nice place that showcased local Nebraska artists. The curators were very knowledgeable and take great care of the paintings.

Beautiful artwork that is meaningful in both historical and contemporary contexts. Staff members who are extremely knowledgeable about past, current and future exhibits. A first-class physical facility which is truly a gem. Any visit gives you something thought-provoking to take away.

We were at Bone Creek today for about the 10th time. Every time we go they have well curated exhibits. There are different themes to the exhibits. One having to do with the braceros period in our history, one comparing two contemporary artists, one on flowers, one on corn, and all having to do with farming, planting, harvesting, or some aspect of living on the land.

This little museum is a gem! It's off the beaten track, but well worth the time it takes to get there. The proprietors are knowledgeable and eager to share, but if you prefer to browse on your own they accommodate. As an added bonus, there's a little bar around the corner where I stopped for lunch and had a delicious pulled pork sandwich. I'm sorry I don't remember the name, but the staff at the museum could probably point you in the right direction.

Beautiful exhibit of Birger Sandzen's work. Stunning colors. Definitely worth the drive from Lincoln. Thank you for the inside scoop on the other art at the museum as well. (We also enjoyed the BBQ at the cafe around the corner.)

A place of art and inspiration dedicated to our land , a most precious gift we cannot take for granted . Dale Nichol's interest in the Mayan culture reached a new height of curiosity lately , for me, as having the opportunity to explore their culture where a mural is in the process of being painted in South Omaha. They are excited to visit David City to share their culture and customs , make new friends and learn more of Dale's works and life.
