I recently purchased a car though Shade's Classic Corner Cars and everything went flawlessly!Chris is a great guy to deal with, he was very up front and honest about the car I was buying.I wanted a project car and the car I bought isn't a show car. It has some rust and the interior needs work, but Chris was extremely through in his pictures and description of the car. There was not a single thing about the car that he did not discuss with me prior to buying it and after the car was delivered it was even better than what we discussed over the phone. On their website it says "Buy a car. Make a friend." and I couldn't agree more!I would highly recommend Shade's Classic Corner Cars to anyone, they are great to work with and are willing to help you as much as possible.

Its said wait until the Honeymoon is over before one writes a review. Well back in late fall of 2022 i purchased a 69 Monza from Chris and put it away until spring. Fast forwarding to now and brought it out of the garage and must say the Honeymoon is far from over. Starting up the car I remembered all of the pleasant conversations i had with Chris involving this whole process which was more of an adventure. A big plus for me was Chris didn't pressure sell me by calling over and over again letting me move at my own pace and responding via voice/text with any questions i may have had which made buying the car even more enjoyable. Thinking back i seem to believe Chris downplayed the 69 a bit, but upon arrival it was exactly what i was looking for and then some.If you are looking for a Corvair go no further than Shade's and make sure you get a hold of Chris.

First, Shades Classic Cars was recommended to me by my favorite parts supplier and they were spot on. Text back and forth, Chris ordered everything he needed to replace the clutch in my 63 Monza convertible and then I ended up in the hospital, but Chris was great. I made it to Hastings last Wednesday and Mitch was waiting for it. Dropped it off and he finished mid-day on Thursday. That 63 shifts so smooth now! Super impressed. I am considering, buying another Corvair at Shades this time. 100% satisfied. So accommodating and just good honest people.

Working with Shade's Classics is a great experience. We are Corvair collectors who have a website, but we aren't a dealership. We get calls all the time from people shopping for Corvairs or they have one to sell. We direct them to Chris. I'd be hard pressed to come up with a number, but we'd guess we've been involved with 2 dozen or more happy transactions over the past few years. This is a specialty vehicle, and not a 6 digit one, for sure! When you're buying an older car, it pays to do your homework, put your expectations in writing because this dealership sells cars in ALL condition: Project, something that needs everything, up to full restorations. As any of us know, with a 50 year old vehicle, something that worked today just might not work tomorrow!

I have always had the best experiences when buying or trading Corvairs at Shade's. Top notch cars, excellent prices and willingness to go the extra mile! You won't find a more honest business anywhere in the automotive world. I've recommended Shade's to several folks and they all say the same thing: "Buying a car at Shade's is joy!"

We have had a number of business interactions with Chris over several years. Our hobby, JTVairs.com gets calls frequently to buy cars and we aren't a dealer. We've recommended well over a dozen buyers to Chris, all with happy endings. We've found Chris to be honest and fair. When a car has a problem, he is the first to step up and make it right, or work to make it right. There are customers that when they are given the requested refund CONTINUE to bash the dealer and that's incredibly unfair. What is the goal after you've been refunded? Seems there's a lack of character there. Or an agenda.

I really liked Chris from the beginning. Buy a car, make a friend was so true. I bought 3 Corvairs over the next few years and planned to buy more eventually. But the last one, well sad to say, he screwed up. I was supposed to get a really nice one, better than the ones I purchased before, also more expensive. We talked about this project multiple times and I was really excited about it. This was back in fall of 2021. So, no rush at all. Finally in December 2022, the day of delivery. The ignition key lock fell out and apart so we had to push the car to our house. From then on it was downhill. Chris warned me about an oil leak they detected while loading the car. And yes an oil leak it was. Someone screwed up the valve cover and its seal. They stripped the threads out by over tightening and then replaced it with longer screws. He gave me a discount because of this. The more we checked, the more we found. In short, it was a mix of broken or missing parts, faulty electrical wiring, ripped off or broken screws and a very botched paint job and body work (I paid extra to have it done nicely). I have pictures of all of it. I know he does budget restorations, but honestly whose budget is he restoring? Conclusion: Either he pulled a fast one, I fell for it because I trusted him, it is incompetence, a very botched job or even fraudulent, I really don't want to know. This car was never checked and should have never been delivered like this. So I contacted him about all my problems and what did he do? He brushed me off. It's ok, Patricia, like I made all this up. If this is your real policy then I going to buy my future cars from someone else, that is for sure. When you buy a car form him make sure all the detail are in a written contract. Write it down. And go to his shop to check the car you are buying in person. Sad, very sad!

It is very sad, but I decided to post this review. I bought 3 Corvairs form Shade. The first two one were more or less great. The third one Chris and I talked about to make it real nice and a head turner, so I paid extra money for the bodyshop work. A total disappointment. Chris is nice to do business with, but the car had several problems and the work done was incompetent, botched or even fraudulent.First of all electrical problems, e.g. licence plate light, dashboard was hooked up to the blinker. Low beams/high beams switch was crossed, stop/turnsignals wiring was messed up. And the horns were missing completely.Second mechanical, like driver seats/passenger seat were not secured with screws, broken off. And the real kicker was the right side valve cover was only holding with 3 screws. The 4th one, the tread was ripped off. To compensate this, they used a longer screw and ripped the rest of the thread off too. Have you heard of helicoil? Oil collected in the pan and spilled over the exhaust. Nice, love the smell!Next door hinges were missing or broken on both sides. They put a new top on, but the broken weatherstrips were left in place. And the cover boot for the top is from a 1st generations Corvair! There is more, but if I list everything the list gets too long. No more cars form Shades classic corner. And I thought I had found a friend! Sorry Chris.

I purchased a 63 Rampside from Chris and his crew a few months ago. After 2 initial conversations I felt very comfortable buying a sight unseen car from Shades in Neb and going to Ohio. It took just over a year to complete the whole process for the budget restoration. Chris went above and beyond to communicate with me through the whole process. They communicated a low and high price range, with some upgrade options so I was very much in control of how the final product would come to me. Anytime you buy a 50 year old vehicle even after the restoration, there will always be minor issue cropping up once you get the vehicle and start driving it. I was not surprised that I ended up with some minor issues after I started driving it, but what did surprise me is how well they took care of the issue I had. I have zero complaints after the dust cleared and have already given them a referral to another guy here in Ohio that will be reaching out. I would be happy to talk to anyone that would need additional comments from me. Shades can provide my direct number if needed.

I purchased a car from here and then asked them to refresh it and make sure everything was running and working well. After waiting several months for the work to be done I received the car. Several small and simple things (lights, horn, locks, heat, etc...) did not work. More importantly, the cabin of the car was filling with engine fumes and the car could not drive more than 10 miles before shutting down and refusing to start. After much time and money troubleshooting with a local mechanic, I discovered that several of the parts that Shade's had said they replaced and had charged me for, had in fact not been replaced at all! The owner himself is a friendly guy to talk to but the work they did on my car was either incompetent or fraudulent.
