Such a great place. Every year we visit, we make sure to come and say hi. Staff is sweet and friendly. Food is pretty dang good too. Just a spot that you have to hit. If you are looking for a an uptight place to take your uptight wife and kids definitely skip this spot so non of us have to deal with you. Haha. But if you are laid back and enjoy the lake life come on by for a good time!

July 2022 the food was great. We ate at the Cove several times during our trip. Now, July 2023 - was excited to eat at the Cove. The same menu as before (which is great). This time the food was not good. The Bourbon Steak that we just loved before was not good at all. Our son ordered the Fish & Chips - way over cooked and the Ribeye for me...meh - just loved paying $35 for fat! The bill was $90. The server started out good then for some reason became a little crabby and kind of ignored us. There was just one other group of people in the restaurant when we were there sooooo...not very busy. I only tipped 15%, which is the 1st option on the little electronic device they give you to pay with. One she saw that she became, well, crabby is not the word I would use. Anyway, in the 10 days we were at Lake Mac - we didn't go back.

Man this place hasn't change too much since we came here 10 years ago. When you're sun burnt and tired from the lake, this is a nice shady. spot with great views of the lake. We love the outdoor patio and occasionally they have live music and we've been known to dance on the patio. As most of the places on the lake are, the food is secondary to the environment and the drinks. Still if you just want the basics after a long day it's a fun and cool spot to go to it is just further down the lake than other spots.

I've heard good things about this place, but my experience was horrible! Not once did the staff acknowledge our existence for the hour we were there until we were leaving. If you want service do not go here.

Saturday Night 6:30 PM Tried to order a sirloin steak, they were out so we changed to chicken Schnitzel. All 3 kids ordered chicken tenders. 10 minutes after ordering, our server came back and told us they were also out of chicken tenders, and the kids would need to make a different selection. Asked the server to tab us out he said he would go get the manager. He came back and charged us for the kids sodas and my beer. Would have been happy to pay for my beer but then you charged me for sodas bc you can't manage your restaurant? You got to be kidding me man!

Ordered a steak. Received raw meat. Terrible service. Their only waitress was out back most of the time, sucking on her vape pen. Two hour, inedible meal… with kids. At least we were within a mosquito’s flight to the barely visible lake…

We enjoyed our lunch here after a morning on the water. Excellent food and drink options. Really enjoyed the ahi appetizer and all our food was great. They have new ownership and chef and really worth checking out.

I wanted to like it at minimum. Such a poor visit. Three kids, two adults; meh. Being the only nearby option for dinner, they took my money with disappointment. Overpriced for less than average food. Two cheese burgers were over cooked. The chicken tenders chewy and passable. My fish and chips were not fresh tasting and overcooked. The fries were the only item that tasted decent. $4.50 per cup of chocolate milk for the kids, "Inflation is real...how much do you usually pay for kids chocolate milk at other places (pause) is $4.50 okay?" asked our server. Like I had to negotiate this normal request. If you are here for drinks, I would hope they do better. I did not order an alcoholic drink.I feel terrible for the low review. Pandemic time period, they need the business. But, I was disappointed at all turns. No ice tea after ordering and being told to chose something else five minutes later. No American cheese for burgers, again after ordering five minutes before, had to substitute Swiss or cheddar as they were out. The ketchup bottle lid was crusty and had a hard plug that I had to remove with a knife. The flies, I guess you just get used to them, sure didn't help. It was disappointing.$90 total plus 20% tip for a below average dinner without alcohol for two adults and three kids. I hope the food can be improved by the owners. Service was great. Work with what you have? It wasn't the servers fault. Thin menu should not have issues, basics.Overall, not worth the visit.

Not a lot of options in the area. We wanted to get out of our camp to celebrate a birthday. Was a little nervous about this place, but was pleasantly surprised. They have a huge outdoor patio with a stage and outdoor lights. Our group was large (14) and they sat us indoors with no problems at 7pm on a Saturday night. Our waitress, Jill, was a hustler. She worked really hard for us. The drinks were tasty , I enjoyed the Salty B***** but I know my friends liked the margaritas too. The food options were surprising....like truffle fries and Bang Bang Shrimp (both good). Burgers were good, the Fish sandwich was good, overall all the food was great. Again, so pleasantly surprised for such a remote restaurant to be this tasty. The best part was our dessert- we ordered dessert for my birthday and they sang loudly for me...and the GM came out singing too and ended up comping all of the desserts for my birthday. So sweet of them, and made this birthday girl feel pretty special. Thanks for a great night!!!!

I wrote a Google Review as well but the only reason we stayed here was because ILOVELAKEMAC.COM listed it. You guys need to change that recommendation. First, I didn't HATE this place but it was pretty run down. I chose here because it has waterfront access but there were only a few places listed on that website. There were so many other lovely places that I could have chose from but I don't know why I didn't seek Trip Advisor first. I learned my lesson. We stayed in the "cabins." This place COULD be a gem but I'm not sure they have enough funds to update it. A few things could go a long way. Water pressure for one in the sink in the bathrooms. New faucet in the shower would also help. Ours was so run down it was difficult to turn them on and get the temperature correct. The showers were also so old there was no way I would let my kids set their butt in the tubs. The mattresses were okay but super bouncy (springs) and the sheets didn't cover the entire mattress. No bed bugs were found (I always look). The kids loved the bunks and the fact that the other bedroom could fit 4 meant our whole family could come but the walls are THIN! Our neighbor let their toddler scream all night. I imagine they use the Ferber method (close the door and don't check on them) or they were so drunk they didn't take care of their child. I get it's vacation but you can't let your kid scream all night! There was a band on Saturday night, we couldn't hear them. Not sure when they started (this is a good thing). We came in from the beach at about 9pm and couldn't hear them so that was a plus, especially after being awake all night the night before from the toddler. The people are nice but difficult to find. Not there on Sunday morning for check out which was a disappointment as we would have liked to have talked with them instead of reviewing online. I am shocked this is listed as a "wedding venue." No way! It's too run down. The food was subpar. I am shocked anyone said it's a 5-star quality restaurant. Nothing tasted "locally sourced." I don't eat out often so this was a treat but it was so disappointing. I make better food at home. Dishes were dirty so I had to rewash them all. DON'T open the dishwasher in Cabin 6. It falls on your shins!! No basket inside to wash dishes so I'm unsure why there is a dishwasher. I could see this place being a happening spot but it's so run down, it's likely going to disappear. Oh, and forget parking if you are in Cabins 5 or 6. All the people at the restaurant park there so you can't even park in front of the cabin you are renting. Is it too hard to designate ONE spot for each cabin??

We had an amazing time here. Zack the general manager was super helpful and the employees at the general store were great when we needed things for our kids. I would recommend this hotel/campsite hands down.
