Its food, decent place for a place with three total restaurants and a population of less than 300. The server was friendly and attentive.

My husband and I went to the Oregon Trail Trading Post on Monday about 4 p.m. We ordered the burrito with green chili sauce and a bacon cheeseburger and substituted fries for the chips. The burrito was huge, we did not see any green chili sauce on it it was mostly beans in a large tortilla with salad thrown over the top. The bacon on the 1/3 lb. bacon cheeseburger was not fully cooked you could tell it was pan-fried the hamburger was the most interesting part when I lifted up the bun it was not around him Burger it was Crescent Moon shaped it reminded me of a kid's hamburger when I brought this to the attention of the owner or waiter, he said it had to be a 5 ounce Patty before cooking that all of them were weighed that way. I hate to break this to people but 5 oz is not 1/3 pound 5 oz is a way of getting an extra Patty every five pounds and if you're going to do it at least make it round but don't advertise a third of a pound hamburger when it is not it just says that you are cheap and you nickel-and-dime everything which is the case here the substitution of french fries for potato chips was $0.99 you get more french fries for $0.99 at McDonald's and you don't have to substitute anything overall they hamburger patty was more grease and the burrito was more beans than anything else.

Stopped in for lunch. Not many places to choose from, in fact the first two places we tried were closed. Food is reasonably priced. Mom 'n Pop diner feel. I recommend the Walleye basket - light, seasoned breading. Restaurant, gas station and C-store.

I usually don't comment on staff but...after a swim in the lake she came up to our table and it was like Kerouac's words come to life...a true midwestern girl. we were awkward and east coast talking with some confusion (we tend to mumble babble on) the food was solid and homecooked and the coffee flowed. this can also be read as a missed connection. 5 stars. rope swing. lake. blue skies. blue eyes. 2 eggs over medium. our atlantic hearts.
