Pioneers Park Nature Center is a 668-acre nature preserve managed by the City of Lincoln Parks and Recreation department. Since 1963, this environmental education center and wildlife sanctuary has offered visitors a chance to explore tallgrass prairie, woodlands, wetlands, and a stream through eight miles of hiking trails. The nature center features exhibits with stuffed wildlife, live snakes and turtles, and a bald eagle exhibit where visitors can spot the majestic bird up close. Visitors can also observe a small herd of bison and enjoy the park's beautiful scenery, including lush grass, trees, and ponds with ducks and geese. The nature center provides a peaceful and educational experience for families, with an open-air theater, picnic tables, and ample space for activities like scooter riding and dog walking.
