This commissary used to suck but it’s definitely gotten better since we first moved here. I’m still hesitant to buy produce here though… always check expiration dates…

Some of the employees working in the self checkout lanes, need to find another job. Your job is to assist when customers need assistance on the registers that malfunction most of the time.

Update - today I went & didnt use self check-out..... NEVER again. The cashier was outstanding, but the lady who bagged? She grabbed my cart & kept pulling as I was trying to unload, I politely said I did not want help out.... she then began bagging it 100 mph as I'm trying to say I dont want help bagging either. Shes ignoring me as the cashier is trying to talk to me.... then I see her bagging my stuff piling it all haphazardly in the cart. I'm still trying to unload.... now lady behind me starts putting items on conveyor next to my items, cashier catches it as bagger is pulling my cart. She then grabs the bottled water, ripping both sides as a 2nd bagger is squishing my tp around the produce. She's begun loading, rushing around, but blocking access to the card reader.... the cherry on top was the comment she made to her coworkers as she counted my $3 tip. Feeling on-the-spot, I gave her another dollar & left. I get to my car & begin loading into cool bags..... one of her bags had one head of lettuce & one bag of carrots, another just the paper plates.....my brother was a bagger a millenia ago so am well aware of the "lots of bags to get more $$" ploy, was just ticked/sad it is still allowed to happen.
Clean, well stocked and the employees are outstanding. I'd been shopping at WM for years as wasnt near a base. Now that I am, def shopping here as prices are lower, its less crowded, theres ease of parking, and carryout help if I need it!

First, I NEVER buy my produce here! I check it all the time, but their produce is NOT fresh, bagged items tend to expire within a couple of days of being put on the shelf, and their produce tends to be more expensive than off base! I would've thought with Offutt being a HQ base, that the commissary would be nicer. Not a great selection, especially if you're on a Keto diet. The facility is quite old. One of their doors had actually NOT WORKED for about a year! The best thing about the facility is the staff! They're all very friendly and professional. We had been stationed at Malmstrom AFB prior to Offutt, and Malmstrom's commissary was actually bigger & nicer!

I shop at the Commissary for a number of reason's. First, everyone working there is friendly and helpful. Plus they have everything I want and if they don't you simply ask for it and if they don't have it they will order it for you. Can't beat that. When you're done shopping you have the choice of options for checkout. Full service, where you can have them check and bag your stuff for you, and I believe you can even lead them to your vehicle and they will load it into your car for you. A tip is expected to the bagger for this service but not required. Or self-service where you can scan it, bag it and take it out yourself, which is what most people today do. Either way is a good deal, plus your on base which is generally a safer environment.
