Build a Bear is a location that magically turns adults into kids....If you allow it. Go nuts. Build a princess sparkle unicorn. Wish on the heart. Love your inner kid

They hosted a party for my daughter's 1st birthday today with 10 kids and it was FANTASTIC, both of the employees that hosted for us were super patient and more than happy to help us and all of our. We will definitely be coming back again. I HIGHLY recommend anyone to have a party here.

A truly miserable experience for my daughter’s 2nd birthday party. We booked a party through build a bear for my daughter’s 2nd birthday party. We had 8 in our party in total. We were scheduled for 4 pm.
First problem begins when we show up with our party in tow, and the front is roped off. We go up to a worker and let her know we are here for our party at 4. She says there’s no party scheduled today at 4. I pull up my email confirmation to show, that we do indeed have a party at 4 today. She calls the manager, manager apparently forgot to tell everyone, so she asks for 10 minutes to clear out the store because they’re understaffed. Okay great. We can wait. 10 or so minutes later we go in.
2nd issue, We pick out bears, they tell us what we can pick out. We get effectively no guidance on what to do what we can pick out, or anything. I’m not 100% positive what our package entails (we selected the $40 package - more on that later) the staff told us we could pick any bear, an outfit, shoes and a carrier, that seems wrong so we again confirm. Same answer. We confirm a third time, oh no, it’s actually one outfit, and no shoes, we were looking at the wrong party. Excellent, thank you for the lack of guidance.
Third issue, we were supposed to have a dedicated staff member. We did not. No one was really assigned to help us; and no one gave much guidance, we constantly had to chase down staff for answers. The website says you’ll get a staff member dedicated to assist.
Fourth issue, on the website it says the package we selected is $40. So why is it when I go to pay our package is now $45 a person? (Yes, this was pre tax). When we’re paying over $350+ for a birthday party, I don’t love finding out we’re paying an extra $5 a kid. Staff couldn’t explain why the discrepancy between online and in store. If I book something that says a price, I expect to pay THAT price.
All in all, I’m irritated, frustrated, but most importantly I’m saddened that, what should have been a truly fantastic birthday party for my daughter, was miserable. We paid almost $400 when all was said and done, we were there just about an hour, and we all couldn’t wait to just leave. We were paid no attention, given no directions, and forgotten about. When you pay this much for a birthday party, you expect, at bare minimum, competence. I understand the store may have been understaffed, so I won’t put the entire experience on the Store, but we suffered as a result. I truly can not express how chaotic the experience was, and how disappointed my wife and I are after this experience. We’ve loved Build a Bear, but the horrible experience we’ve had has completely soured us and I doubt we’ll be back.

Would also give zero stars if possible. Manager (Latonya) SO RUDE!!! Can not believe she is in a customer service position. At checkout said she was off the clock & could not help us. Made us stand there & look around expecting someone to come. Then with a BIG attitude rang up our merchandise. She argued with us that we weren't Bonus Club members because she couldn't enter in an email address (3 tries). I don't think she even tried to be honest. Wouldn't put our purchases in a bag (when asked) just shoved them at us on the counter. Ya, we got the racist comment from her too. Not even sure why...just wanted to have a good experience with my grandson. She ruined that :(
I will spend my money elsewhere!

Took my niece and nephew to get a bear over the weekend, and they had a great time. Staff was friendly and great with kids. However when they were picking out clothes for their bears, who I assume was the manager walked in reeking of weed. Made the whole store stink like it. Completely inappropriate in a place meant for kids. Fortunately they were almost done picking things out so we didnt have to stay too long after that. The staff was nice but not sure I'd want to bring them back if management cares so little about keeping the environment kid friendly.

I called to schedule a birthday party for my kid, and spoke to a woman named Latonya. She was very rude the entire conversation, and talked down to me after every question I asked. I don't know what I did to upset her I just wanted to know what the package would entail. Came on here and saw other reviews with similar complaints and decided it would be best to not have the party here.

My daughter had a birthday party here and there was a miscommunication about what bear she could get as the birthday girl. We had one employee who told us it was alright for her to get the cinnamaroll, and when we went to pay we got told that wasn't the case. Being told she couldn't get the cinnamaroll with the party package wasn't an issue the rude way the management handled it was the issue. The only employee that spoke to me and my boyfriend was the first one Rufio who left before our party started. One of the cashier's claimed to have explained everything to us multiple times, but she didn't speak to us about the rules until the bears were made. She spoke through Rufio, who told me what the rules were. It was simple enough any of the bears with party balloons behind them could be picked. But Rufio picked up the cinnamaroll and told my daughter she could get that one even though it was $6 above the cost allotted. I would have had no issue redirecting her to pick one of the bears in budget. I have an issue though with a scene being made over $6 when I spent over $300 to make my daughter's birthday special.

Staff members were incredibly rude during a child's birthday party. Would not reccommend this location in any capacity. Staff member gave the birthday girl a higher priced stuffed animal, and told her she could have it as part of the birthday package. A separate employee rang the party up and claimed that she would not honor that. Then spent the rest of the time while ringing us up talking bad about us for not being able to read the rules. Which again we would not have made this bear had the employee not told us it was okay when we arrived. They then accused of us being racist because we told them that what they had done was misleading. At no point had anyone said anything even resembling racism. Latonnia is without a doubt an embarrassment to the company and they should be ashamed of the way their employees represent their company. They were completely disinterested in helping the children enjoy the event and seemed as though they were bothered by the fact that they had to be there.
This location is nothing but a joke and I highly encourage everyone to steer clear of it and if this is the way the company chooses to be represented I'd recommend avoiding the company all together.
