I had a very frustrating experience trying to use my fuel rewards, and the problem is not the employees — it’s the equipment and the confusing pump interface.
The first pump I tried did not work at all. After inserting my card, it just stayed on “processing” and never moved forward, so I had to pull around to a different pump.
At the second pump, the interface was extremely confusing. The pump has multiple components (card reader, keypad, scanner, screen), but none of them are clearly labeled or explained. After entering my card and PIN, the screen prompted me to “scan or enter loyalty number,” but there was no indication of which part of the pump was used for scanning or how to do it. I tried scanning my rewards code I had pulled up on my phone, but nothing worked.
I then tried entering the phone number I believed was associated with my account, but it repeatedly said “no loyalty points,” even though I knew I had a 10-cent-per-gallon reward. After confirming my reward details, I returned to the pump and tried again, and it still did not work.
Eventually, I went inside, where the only option was to pre-pay. That finally allowed the reward to apply, but I wanted to fill my tank, not estimate an amount just to make the system work.
To be clear: the staff were fine and did nothing wrong. This is entirely an issue with Hy-Vee’s fuel equipment and fuel rewards setup. It is not intuitive, not user-friendly, and especially difficult for new customers or anyone who needs clear, straightforward instructions.
Clear labeling, clearer on-screen guidance, and functioning pumps would prevent this kind of experience.

Not sure why I’m bothering writing this - clearly they couldn’t care less based on their score and other reviews. But my gosh … don’t inconvenience the night crew by stopping in with your child to buy a quick drink for them and use the restroom.
One guy couldn’t stop ENTHUSIASTICALLY staring at his watch; making sure I noticed. Then the best part .. turning off the lights while my son is looking for a drink. Keep in mind , they still aren’t technically closed as it isn’t even 9pm at this time.
I’m not typically one to take the time to leave a review but these clowns need a lesson in maturity.
Hyvee. do better. Hire better.

These are the best gas stations. Great items for grab and go that aren’t complete trash options.
Small facility, but stacked with choices. They had nice looking warm gloves and beanies too.
Delo was very nice! 😊

The we’re super rude mad because we walked in there at 9:45 we know they close at 10, but they didn’t make eye contact and was very Angerybthat we walked in the store has a floor completely full wet mopped and didn’t care at all, was very short at check out. If a facility closes at 10 be aware that people are going to walk in close to 10 o’clock point-blank there’s no need to be that rude. Otherwise find another job.

HyVee fuel saver program is amazing. It really does save money and makes up for the fact that HyVee groceries are so darned expensive. The "Fast and Fresh" upgrades don't really matter to me, but it is nice to have everything freshened up a bit. And the free air dispenser at the side of the building is appreciated.
