The company charged unauthorized charges and would not correct their mistake. They also charged me $171 to extend my rental by 4 hours and wanted to charge another $171 when I asked to change the extension from 4 to 24 hours. AVIS/payless is more concerned with making a profit than customer service. I would not recommend them

Went to the desk upstairs and the young lady told me to head straight downstairs to my car. Obviously she told me the wrong information and a gentleman downstairs from a different rental place named Charlie helped me. He was amazing and this is the only reason I’m giving the two stars for Charlie and Charlie alone. He was fixing mistakes left and right from the upstairs employees. Give that man a raise.

I originally rented a vehicle through Budget Car Rental, but upon arrival, they didn’t have the car ready. They directed me to Avis, who provided a similar vehicle for roughly the same price. Everything seemed fine—until I dropped the car off and received a receipt from Payless Car Rental, a company I had never spoken to or authorized.
Not only did they charge me almost double what I was quoted, but they also added vehicle coverage I explicitly declined. I use an Amex Reserve card, which includes rental coverage, and I also have full coverage through my personal insurance.
This experience felt like a bait-and-switch. I highly recommend staying away from this company. Absolutely unacceptable and incredibly frustrating.

Tons of walking to get to where rental cars desk was. I was not flying just eentin car. Not clearly stated Payless was handled by Avis. No mobility assist to get to vehicle that was last In the row. Turn in just as bad to get to shuttle to park lots. Lucky enough to get a great lady Avis employee there that assisted me!

The car was dirty, they did not do any inspections before giving us the vehicle and they told me I could upgrade my vehicle for only $13 and they charged me 4x the amount. When I called to get a refund, they told me that they can’t since I had already been charged the additional fees. Make sure you are very careful with renting a car from here! Good luck!

Rented a car from there . On the first day of my trip the car will not start. Had to use their roadside to get a jump and told me the battery was low. I called and tried to exchange the car in 2 different locations and wasn't accommodated. And now they send me the bill for the battery start. So apparently they told me I had to have the insurance. For a battery. I will never rent from them or their parent company Avis.

Only gave a 1 because you have to. I decided to change my rental right after I rented and they charge you $50.00 to cancel. Wished I would have read that before selecting them but went through Expedia.

DO NOT EVER RENT HERE! This is the absolute worst rental experience I have ever had. The car we rented broke down leaving us stranded at a gas station in north Omaha. And not just a dead battery, but a completely blown transmission. The car had ~50k miles, which is fine, but they obviously do NOT maintain their cars well. Customer service was no help, with no reimbursement offered for rental costs or subsequent missed flights. Roadside assistance took 2 hours. This is unacceptable for a rental company!

I don’t know how this place is still in business. I rent a car weekly from Avis at Eppley for work. This week, Avis’ website showed no availability so I had to reserve a car with Payless. Knowing that they operate out of the same counter, I assumed the customer service would be the same. WRONG. I arrived to the outdoor counter after the mile walk from the terminal to get in a line with several people. I waited several minutes before the only working employee yelled thru the window at all of us “IF YOUR PICKING UP FOR PAYLESS, EVEN WITH A RESERVATION, WE DONT HAVE A CAR FOR YOU. THERES NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT.” There was no apology or attempt to find a solution. Just a big ole “you’re on your own!” and sent us all away. Disgusting.

If I could give negative stars I would - Working with Avis/Payless was an absolutely HORRIBLE experience that is still haunting my husband and I months later!!
If you need any form of customer service, it will take countless phone calls to speak with someone and it’s impossible to speak with anyone from your rental location. I was told that the only recourse I had for a horrible experience, missing items and fraudulent charges was to submit a complaint.
If you accidentally leave something in the vehicle, just consider it a forced sacrifice to the vicious and apathetic Avis gods. Don’t waste the days and hours of your life submitting tickets and sitting on the phone attempting get even an iota of help.
Also expect a bill for damages done to the vehicle even if you left the vehicle in pristine condition and documented preexisting damages on the vehicle before driving off the lot.
I have never had such a horrible experience. I only recommend Avis/Payless to my worst enemies as a special form of torture.

Will never use them again. Rented and drove to Texas. Car hadn't had oil changed in a very long time and had an expired registration. Sometimes saving money just flat out isn't worth it.

The first car we received was making a concerning noise and had a part in the trunk that I assume needed to be installed. We returned to the rental lot to exchange it and the employee was extremely rude and gave us a dirty car that didn't have working Bluetooth. So we had to get another replacement. The employee was very unfriendly and it wasted a bunch of our time.
