The beautiful gigantic Christmas trees sparkles. And, I loved walking on all the trains and pretending that it was the 1920s. The trains are so beautifully restored. An exhibit features Bing Crosby's movie "White Christmas" of 1954. You see mannequins as costumed in the Movie. Red velvet dresses and glittering light blue dancing skirts delight your eyes. A second exhibit, the Cooking of Julia Child shows you her old fashioned kitchen and her personally-typed recipes.

This is by far one of the many unique places in Omaha to visit. Train station and a museum that has been well kept and just looks stunning inside. Just to think 10,000 people would walk in and out of their daily back when it was functioning was just wow.The museum itself has so much history. I loved the exhibits, White Christmas & Julia Child. Almost a dream to see both up close. I have watched the movie since I was a kid and now 37 it was just so awesome to see the outfits and other items they had from the movie.Julia Child's exhibit was just as awesome. I would highly recommend seeing these exhibits before it's done. Plan to spend a few hours looking at everything and walking through the trains/caboose.

The Durham is hosting the Julia Child's French Chef exhibit. There are interactive 'smell' exhibits where you open the lid of a cooking pot to take in the aroma of a savory meal. The dining room table set up with the projections is creatively cozy. It may not have everything, like the kitchen sink for the cook, but... there is a bathroom tub for photo ops.

Housed in the old train station, this museum is a fun stop for all ages. Lots of trains (both model size and originals you can walk through), history of Nebraska through the ages, and enjoyable temporary exhibits, including currently Lego towers of the world and history of lunchboxes. It’s next-door to the new Amtrak station (so you can see active trains going by out the window at certain times) and is just a short walk from downtown. Walk in and head downstairs straight away for the main sights - have a blast!

I absolutely loved the entire museum and exhibits. One of my top museum visits in the USA. The great hall and the soda fountain were the tops.

This museum is near and dear to our families hearts. We spent countless hours when the kids were toddlers and my dad who has since passed and he dragged his feet at first for our family outings. It was pure chaos. Every other weekend on Sunday’s was our family day. We would spoil all three children and it was a memory I will never forget. I believe they are working hard to restore the station and make it better than ever. I give kudos to everyone who makes this museum a well oiled machine. From my family to yours, have fun and spend a Sunday or Saturday here. You will not leave disappointed.

Arrived in town early for a meeting and visited this museum. Definitely recommend. The parking and museum itself are wheelchair accessible. Getting around was easy. We enjoyed many of the exhibits - lunch boxes, coins, trains, beautiful and moving photography by Charles Guildner. There are exhibits that appeal to all ages. We would have enjoyed seeing the model trains running. The cafe food is very good - we enjoyed the pulled pork and ice cream - creamsicle float was yummy. Their selection of vintage candy is fun! A very nice place to visit - historic building and excellent displays. Even if you aren't a history lover there are many interesting and fun things to see.

I photographed a wedding a the Durham Museum and it was such a stunning venue with so many unique features. The staff was helpful and professional, the Museum made for a spacious and classy venue with several different spots for the events of the day (lower level for cocktail hour, upper level for dinner and separate space for dancing). Mary, the coordinator was so supportive, informative, and helpful of any needs that came up. Can't wait to capture more wedding days at the Durham!

This is as special, but different, than the Sacramento State Train Museum. You are transported to the 1940’s with talking mannequins/ statues, a working soda fountain, and a lower level full of cars, trains, and a roving display. It was dinosaurs at the time. I would go again and again if I was near.

They had me at lunch box exhibit. My special needs brother and I have been collecting for decades. He would have loved this exhibit but now has Alzheimer's so it was bittersweet. We drove from MN just to see this. Excellent exhibit that also includes some history. Plus the Holy Grail of lunch boxes - Toppie. Never thought I would see one in person. Missing Gunsmoke (including LL error) and Brazil Batman to name a few. Excellent collection though. The Super Hero exhibit was fun and interactive. Also enjoyed the other exhibits; especially the coins. Nice train exhibit and model train too. Don't miss this museum. I was also pleasantly surprised by the soda fountain as it was inexpensive and good. Have some ice cream, a perfect end to your visit.

Spectacular experience. Although a large portion of the building is undergoing renovations, a good portion of the museum was up and running. Many great memories were made here, and our group spent a good while studying Nebraska history. Highly recommended.

Great spot to go if you want to get out of the house for a few hours with the family, lots of interesting local history for the whole family to enjoy. There is a full train you can walk through to feel what it was like to travel the country in the 30s 40s. When we went they had the Superhero exhibit on display which was very cool. There's even an old diner that serves food, milkshakes, malts, classic sodas and candies.

Go check out the Hall of Heros. It is a cool exhibit for all ages. It is really interactive for kids but has some cool facts for adults. It brought back some childhood memories. Highly recommend taking the family and spending an afternoon at the Durham.

We always enjoy a visit to the Durham Museum at the holidays. The Christmas tree rivals that of the Rockefeller Center tree only you get to enjoy it in the comfort of this beautiful retro building. In addition to the Christmas tree, and Santa, there is an exhibit of Christmas trees and their decorations from around the world, which is very special. The Durham typically has additional exhibit on display, and this year was no disappointment with the wardrobes from Downton Abbey on display, which would make any Downton Abbey fan happy! The Durham also boasts a wonderful display of local historical information, train models, train cars, and docents available throughout the week to educate you on the displays. Once you're done touring the museum stop in to their soda fountain for an old fashion sundae or ice cream float. The gift shop is also very special and has unique items at reasonable prices. Members get discounts at the gift shop and can access year round including special exhibits which change periodically, so check the website for the latest information.

The Durham is an absolutely beautiful museum. Walking in you see the most beautiful details on the ceiling, and the lights are absolutely beautiful. Basement has trains for the kiddos to go through. There’s also a lot of educational information there as well. Absolutely worth the visit. We went during their noon years eve event for kiddos. There were a ton of people there, but it didn’t feel pushy or too tight. Put together very nicely.
