“I drove to this Dollar General today to find an item for my son, who had been pestering me for weeks for a Dollar General-only item that constantly sells instantly upon being stocked. I checked online and saw these items were probably in stock, but from my experience at numerous other stores, the online inventory is often wrong. I had been to 6 or 7 other Dollar Generals, and the employees were typically grumpy, unhelpful, and unwilling to check backstock to see if they had these items in the back of the store, since shelves were always empty.
Fast forward to today (04/07/25), I drove to the Springfield DG at about 8 am, right at opening time. I went in and was met by both Hattie and John. I asked if they had the product I was looking for, and they said they were sold out. John immediately called another store to check inventory for me, which was super cool, but not successful. I told Hattie that I had been searching for weeks for this item for my son, and she and John immediately started searching new inventory containers to try and find them for me. To my surprise, they found the item and sold it to me without skipping a beat.
I left that store feeling pretty good, not only because I finally was able to get items my son and I had been searching for for weeks, but because two friendly employees treated me like a human, had great interpersonal communication and guest service skills, and went the extra mile to help out a customer instead of doing the easy thing and simply saying they didn't have the item I was looking for, like every other dollar general had in the recent past.

“Our cashier was very friendly and just seemed like a really good person. This place has a great variety of everyday needs and some fun items. Very reasonable prices. Maybe not the best quality around and the place feels a bit dark but overall reasonable for what you would expect at the Dollar Tree.”
“I have a terrific idea for any negative comments. First get a hold of the manager. Second offer to volunteer on one of their busiest days(maybe you will get lucky & be able to fill in for someone who is ill ,coughing, running a fever so they can go home or to the doctor). Be sure to have the manager put your time you work on ill employees card.
Lastly , take a good look around at the messes the customers just made rummaging thru everything. Now time that by twenty.
I shop there all the time & never once have I had any employee be rude. THANK YOU DOLLAR STORE EMPLOYEES, MANAGERS. GREAT PLACE TO SHOP!

“The manager is great and gives out wonderful customer service. I'm a secret shopper for few franchise. I always go to the 13th s/[re. Fast but on truckk days an next day there's a lot to put out so a little cudder.But I have seen in the month of December selves were stock and items were off the store. So there's been a some good management with her employees being organize an the flow of customers just came in spaces but steady .And a big applause for th÷m being team players. I was I'mpress by the last few times I shop there . Hard workers with pleasant smile. ... GREAT JOB! GREAT CREW !”

I also like how retro it is (but probably cause their to lazy to update but whatever) and some credit as is basically the only store in town cause I guess no one wants the big piece of land near the trailer park. Overall i like this place ?”
“Real good selection, considering the size and really good price considering the location. It’s a great urban bodega. However, there’s no real good parking. I had a park about a block and a half down the street so perfect for a quick pick up but not for your monthly grocery store shopping.”
