“(My pros and cons at the end of this long post) Overall: Worth the mid-level price point! Rooms and bathrooms are clean and pretty updated, the AC unit kept up in almost 100-degree heat and high humidity, and it's quiet and nested by a neighborhood with large shade trees. I heard people complain that you get 1 tiny piece of soap and 1 little shampoo but, if they had asked those granddaughters of the owner, they would have brought them more (don't complain if you don't ask for something). If grandpa/owner takes your reservation, be kind. He's older and really loves his inn. You cannot expect 4-star accommodations for that price point and location. But, your can expect 5-star hospitality.
Pros: 1 - Cafe on-site with breakfast and lunch (open 5 am til 1 or 2, not sure if 7 days a week or not but were open Sat and Sun) 2 - Clean bathroom, nothing broken but maybe some chipped paint (it has A WORKING exhaust fan, for those of us we appreciate that) 3- The AC UNIT ran all day and night and kept the room chill through the high heat/humidity 4 - Really comfy beds and fluffy pillows (4 per bed) 5 - Quiet (though there are tiny dogs at the house behind it that might yap if you use the dumpster) 6 - Casey's within throwing distance. Google lies, it closes at 10 pm. They have the standard food/pizza. 7 - If you're there for a ball game it's less than 2 minutes to the ballpark Etc - Smart TV that will let you sign into streaming services, polite staff, easy to locate, mini fridge WITH A SMALL FREEZER (an actual freezer) atop the fridge, Noon checkout
Cons 1 - They have free wi-fi, but it's up and down due to location 2 - Thin towels (though, expected at that price point) 3 - Couldn't get the deadbolt locked from the outside a few times (pull like an ox to get the lock to align properly; may be a humidity thing due to it being summer) 4 - Other than Casey's and the diner (that has no evening/night hours) any restaurant you Google for that city is closed 5 - Gravel parking in front of your room (I don't mind but I know some do so noting it) 6 - Pre-pay (can cancel subsequent nights if done by noon of that day) 7 - Reservations must be done by phone (no online presence)
Single mom with 2 kids (10 and 13) approves!!
Rooms: Small, comfortable, clean, great AC, mini fridge WITH A real freezer on top
Safety: No cameras but very well lit
Walkability: Can walk a few feet and be at Casey's, maybe a 5 to 10 minute walk to ball fields (depending on how fast you walk). Flat sidewalks with no real hills unless you go to the ball fields)
Food and drinks: Diner on site for early breakfast at 5 am and open til 1 or 2 with lunch options available. Pie!!!”
