The Cather Foundation does a great job with historical restoration and bringing through plays, concerts and other Arts opportunities.

This a fully restored opera house, a well done one at that! It has the orginal wood floors in the theatre proper and the walls have the carvings and writings from long past traveling theatre troops. As a lover of theatre this is certainly a nice place to go and visit as well as the Willa Cather muesum down the street.

This opera house featured prominently in the young life of Willa Cather, acclaimed American writer, who gave her graduation oration from the stage in 1890.
Today, visitors are transported back to Cather's time, when she and her friends eagerly anticipated the arrival of traveling productions. Plan your visit to include one of our numerous plays, concerts, exhibits, or cultural events.
