Was closed when I visited on a Sunday but the signage gives lots of info. I stopped at a nearby park to let my cat out to walk around. He & I car-camped our way all around Nebraska - a very enjoyable trip in the early fall of 2021.

Was there on a Sunday, so the museum and this were closed. Nice to see history of a great American rider preserved.

Outside of sites related to her and her literature there is not much in the actual town to seek out. Town is working on that though. Could become a neat artist's colony.

It was closed. A small sign had directions to the Opera House where you could go to arrange for a tour of the inside. I had expected it to be open for specific hours as stated on their website. This was May 1, 2021 during the Covid pandemic. I enjoyed walking around the property but decided not to pursue things further due to my own time constraints. This pretty little town is quite peaceful and laid back. Plenty of interesting old architecture. None of it polished or grand. It appears to be a food desert as well. I imagine townspeople drive to Hastings for excitement when they desire it.

Staying at the Cather Second Home B & B in Red Cloud is the perfect compliment to exploring the world of Willa Cather. It is beautifully restored - and work is ongoing to keep it pristine and comfortable. Beautifully and comfortably furnished with both a wrap around front porch and balcony and a rear secluded patio. Only a couple of blocks from the downtown and the vibrant main street, it's an easy walk through delightful small town neighborhoods. There are six guest rooms and three baths, so plenty of room for the family or groups of friends.
