If you are considering renting from these folks, think twice. Showed me a unit, took my $20 application fee, strung me along for three days only tell me "we have other renters with a higher credit score, why would we rent to you"Everyone deserves fair housing.

Perhaps they do great work. I don’t know. I called starting November 1 of 2021. I was told it would be 8 to 12 weeks. At the end of 12 weeks I called again. They said it would be a few more weeks. After a few weeks I called again. They said it would be 10 days. I finally found someone else to look at my fireplace. So perhaps they do great work. But the other thing that really bothered me was every time I called the Guy who was supposed to look at my fireplace was in the office. I heard many excuses about why they weren’t here. I feel like time management might be an issue. So maybe you can get them to come to your house and do some good work. I just couldn’t get them to come.

No refund of security apt deposit. 39 days from vacating premises and 24 days after the 14 days of return stipulated by lease. Update 7/4/'17: I initially gave this review 1 Star and if I could I'd give it NO stars. I received my security refund on 6/26/17 without any apologies. A full 27 days after the expected time of reception. Their excuse was that they sent it to the wrong address which I clearly documented on my vacating notice and kept. In fact the wrong address was still on the check they sent me. I had to blot it out and/or write over it since banks are particular about that information. Actually IMO they delayed it PURPOSELY to frustrate me because there was NO love between us for ONE year. Mark even said to me after 6 months that "I was their prime complainer." A and L Inc. is owned by the Harris bros Mark and Paul. Both hail from the TX panhandle (or have family there) with Mark being a former mayor in Scottsbluff claiming to have "37 years in the apt rental business." When I left Scottsbluff NE in mid May I told Mark that I wanted a full refund of my deposit (albeit the lease states they will subtract a carpet cleaning fee) and that if I rec'd it I would not 'look in my rear-view mirror' (ie, with any regrets). Not the case. When I moved in on 2nd Ave a year ago the carpet had multiple gum chews still in the carpet (Mark chews gum with folded arms when he talks to you) and the carpet lacked any 'knap' in it ie, completely worn to the matting of the carpet at least in the main traffic pattern of the living room. My feet were BLACK for one year due to the dirt in the matting probably feeding through to the top surface. The gum chews were all over including the 2 bedrooms. Other things: 2) no sound-proofing. I heard the 2 guys above me (1 with a blue-tooth in his ear) talking at all hours day and night. I even heard them urinate in the toilet. Additionally the up and down stairwell was PART of my apt only hidden by a thin plywood panel...so I heard these 2 adult men (combined wgt. of close to 500 lbs) coming and going thru the only entrance to the bldg. 3) the common areas are to be cleaned by the owners (in the lease) and the hallway outside my apt was not cleaned all Summer and early Fall of '16 (3-4 mos). Spider nests grew and these little small moths were all over: filthy. 4)No pest control...if you have spiders (many in Scottsbluff) in your apt. I was told: "go buy a can of Raid." In conclusion I said IMO to Mark Harris that I thought the carpet should be replaced. He said, "He and Paul would determine that." The Harrises hire temp help for the cleaning and use their own maintenance helpers for the carpet cleaning. I've witnessed this. IE, they get by on the cheap in poor, poor Scottsbluff. Paul and Mark can't be faulted for the apt construction (lack of sound-proofing) since they purchased the 4 bldgs. from the original owner.....but the cleaning and carpet condition? "Thirty-seven years of apt management?" Well I've rented for 40+ years and I can say unequivocally this is the WORST apt I've had the misfortune to be connected with.

I live in Alliance, 55 miles from Scottsbluff, NE. Since there were no chimney cleaners in Alliance I call A & L. They said their rate was $140 for cleaning plus a mileage fee: $3 a mile for a single customer or $1 a mile if they had two or more customers nearby. After a couple weeks, they called to say they had another customer and wanted to come in the morning even though I had asked for afternoon. I would give them 5 stars for the cleaning service. It was professional, thorough and friendly. I would give them 0 stars for communication. The other party cancelled but they did not give me an opportunity to select whether I wanted to continue that day at $3 a mile or wait to pay only $1 per mile. Instead, they showed up, said nothing about the cancellation, and billed my for $3 a mile. Shifty, unfriendly business. If I ever use them again I will insist on a written bid.
