A friendly black and white kitty had been showing up around my apartment the winter of 2022. I was just ready to get him vetted and bring him inside when he disappeared....weeks later something told me to check PHS website and there he was! Someone must have called communications before I could get him. The shelter called him Iroh but I called him Freddie Purrcury. The staff were very helpful and kind during the adoption process, it was very efficient and easy.A year later, I picked him back up from PHS in an urn, following a very sudden and unexpected health incident. They were very kind about this process and I'm so glad they partner with some local vets to get this. I'll miss him forever but I'm eternally thankful for all the services PHS provided me.

I'm surprised the agency exits due to poor staff customer service. I will be telling EVERYONE how rudely I was treated and will be contacting the Director. Discriminatoon

I love this place, friendly smiles and faces, great atmosphere and all animals are very well taken care of.. They are all up to date on vaccines and spaded and nurterd. I sure do miss Leonard, he's the big arnery cat in the pic. He was my sons favorite cat to play with when he came to visit

Small but active shelter serving much of the region for surrenders, strays, and lost cats & dogs. The staff and volunteers clearly love animals, based on how clean and well cared for the animals seem... and how active they are on social and website marketing the animals for new homes. We saw dogs regularly being taken out for walks or for run-arounds in their exercise area. And their room to interact with the potential adoptee is really quite a nice touch. We ended up adopting a larger breed young dog from PHS, and he has worked out great so far for our family.Their paperwork and interview process makes sense and seems to solve past problems. Just be aware that if you rent your home they need a call or letter from your landlord approving the adoption. And the animal is still "on the market" until they get the approval.Only constructive feedback: it almost seemed anticlimactic when we were done with the paperwork and that was it. A little silly ceremony or even farewell pets from the staff would have tied things together and reiterated that adopting is a big life changing thing for the pet and the humans.

The staff are super friendly and I was so glad that my newly adopted dog was in such good hands before we found each other. They take care of spaying/neutering, rabies vaccinations, microchipping, and so much more as well before you adopt, which is what the adoption fee is for. Totally reasonable, and there's no price tag on the love and companionship my dog provides. I also couldn't thank Panhandle Humane Society enough for making it happen!

The people are very nice and informative on each cat/dog I've visited. If you're looking for an active kitty who is extremely playful and lives up to his name, visit Chucky ( if he hasn't been adopted already).

Super easy adoption process, took me less than an hour. The facility is clean and the pets are well cared for. The staff was friendly and knew each animal well. I took my kitty Mishka home a month ago and I'm so in love with her. Thanks Panhandle!

The staff at the Humane Society have a difficult job. They do a very good job at trying to find homes for the pets. They also have to deal with the public. I have found the staff to be professional and courteous. They seem to genuinely care about the welfare of the animals. We are lucky to have the Humane Society here and they need all the support from the community they can get. Thank you Panhandle Human Society for all the good you do for animals! Keep up the good work!

It's sad that people have to re home pet but Goshen county has one of the better pounds. And they allow all kinds of people to take care of the animals even young ones with supervision. Love it....

Panhandle Humane Shelter has really changed. Not only do they solicit "sustaining donations" from all local communities and the County, they are now charging people who bring in stray animals. It used to be the mission of the shelter to "save" animals from neglect, abuse and potential injury/disease from being "dumped." Apparently that mission has changed. I understand the adoption fees, but the intake fee charged to the good Samaritans to bring in stray or feral animals is ridiculous. It looks like there may be less stray animals turned in to be returned to their families, and feral animals may never get the chance to get a forever home. Shame on you PHHS!

I called regarding a kitten for adoption and the woman I spoke with knew nothing about this kitten. She was rude and didn't want me to ask any more questions. She actually hung up on me. Will not adopt from them again.
