Love seeing these Big Horns! The alpha male is on his last leg. He looks pitiful. If he makes a clicking sound all of the big horns stand up and run to the hills.

WOW! I was amazed at the beauty and tenderness of the Bighorns! They really do come down and nibble on the wide-open park grass area. They come down and return up the rocky mountain side. They let you come pretty close (10ft) to admire and take pics. Common sense should prevail when dealing with these wild animals accustomed to humans. Lots of parking available. Tennis courts, short dirt trail, amazing views, picnic areas, children playground and more. Forgot this is a real public park for humans!

If you love big horn sheep, this is the place! Easy to get to from the strip - with beautiful views of lake mead. And it’s free! Bring a picnic lunch - covered tables as well as lots if grassy areas to sit and relax and have your lunch. Please respect the sheep and don’t crowd or chase them.

Beautiful park with an amazing view and the animals are an added bonus. Wish people would adhere to the no dogs signs all over. But as usual entitled people ruin things for everyone

The sheep are absolutely the star here! The park seemed to be great for children with a playground and all, but most people were viewing the sheep. We dropped by coincidentally at about 1030am which is when the sheep trek down the mountain into the park to graze on grass. There were 3 different groups coming down. Two of 3 animals and the other of about 20. They are majestic and seemed very content. The view of lake mead is also amazing. Great stop on the way to the Hoover dam. The only sad thing about the park was that we picked up several pieces of litter - plastic- in the grass. There are plenty of trash cans so this shouldn’t be an issue, but I write about it, as this species has a limited population.

This place is not dog friendly. Not even leashed, you will be harassed for bringing if a dog here. My two German shepherd lasted 30 second running in the grass before people told us to look at the sign. The only reason I rated one star is because this place is advertised as dog friendly on Google maps. And it is not.

First time visiting the park in winter. I was happy to see that the sheep spend time there this season as well. Part of the herd rested on the hill and part spent time in the park as usual. I intend to visit again in the spring to see the new ones.

Hemenway Park is located in Boulder City, near Lake Mead. We come here quite often for the beautiful lake view, green grass, trees, the easy hike on the short trail, and most importantly for the amazing sights of the Bighorn Sheep. We are most likely successful seeing them right before sunset. They are beautiful! The park has numerous benches to sit on and just enjoy the view. You're welcome to bring your own blanket or sit down under the gazebo and relax, have a nice picnic. There are clean restrooms on the side! The park is also very clean and well maintained, lit up after dusk. Children can play on the playground. We like the short walk on the trails around the park. They put informative signs about nature on the ground to make the walk more interesting. Plenty of parking spaces on the road and on the side parking lot.

We had a blast admiring the beauty of Lake Mead and the surrounding nature. The Big Horn Sheep were impressive to see up-close. The park was clean and well maintained. The playground equipment was clean and safe. The trail behind the park is easy to navigate and gives beautiful views of Lake Mead. Bathrooms are easily accessible and clean. A definite must see in Boulder City.

I've always wanted to visit Hemenway Valley Park and keep checking the reviews to see if the mountain sheeps are always there or not...We've decided to have a picnic today and finally went. The view is beautiful as well as the park. Having a morning coffee in silence while staring at Lake Mead is a blessing.... Until the mountain sheeps showed up. I felt really lucky (lol)... I got really excited because I haven't seen them this close. It is a nice place and I will probably be visiting more .

It was a nice little park, definitely a great stop for kiddos. They have a great playground with a cushioned rubber ground cover. We were able to see a few big horn sheep from about fourty yards away. There is nice green grass for kids to play on with sprinkler systems spraying water everywhere.

I adore this place!!! A little far from where I live (an hour driving...) but if you live in Henderson or Boulder, why not!!! Been here a few times and they have cute horns everywhere if you get lucky!!! Nice park.

We did a tour of the Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam, and we had extra time, so the tour guide took us there to see the big horn sheep. It was amazing

This park is an incredible hidden gem that I've been visiting for years, and it never fails to amaze me! I absolutely adore watching the majestic bighorn sheep against the breathtaking backdrop of Lake Mead. It's truly a sight to behold, especially during the warmer months when the sheep venture down. If only I lived closer, I would come here every day to marvel at these magnificent creatures. Don't forget to pack a picnic, bring your camera, and savor your time in this enchanting place. If you journal or meditate/do yoga, this is a great place for inspiration! Just remember to respect the sheep's territory and observe them from a distance as I have seen several people get to close and scare them, which is not so nice. TAKE A VISIT HERE ALREADY, even if the sheep are not out you'll still enjoy amazing views of Lake Mead. This park does not disappoint!
