Dan is simply the very best coin dealer I have ever encountered. He gratefully gives you an honest appraisal with no pressure to sell or purchase any items. I would not go anywhere else as he is the most honest businessman I have ever encountered.

I have bought and sold coins here at Downtown Coin multiple times and the experience every time has been great. There is no pressure to buy. Dan is very knowledgeable about coins and is always willing to share his knowledge with anyone. He has a very large selection of items from US coins, paper money, and even foreign coins. He even has a nice selection of numismatic books, including older Red Books which is really cool. Overall, I would highly recommend this shop to anyone interested in buying or selling numismatic items.

Downtown Coin is a cool little shop that offers various monetary items and various tchotchkes, including a few knives and pens. I had the pleasure of randomly wandering in here a couple times and loved chatting with the owners, looking around, and purchasing a few things that I may or may not have needed. Downtown Coin also coin club, where the real coin action happens. I did observe first hand the owner inspecting a batch of coins that another customer brought in and was impressed by the Owner's background knowledge and honest, but friendly approach to deciding which coins were treasures and which were face value. This is also the type of place that you need to come in often, to see what is new. Customer "donations" and estate sales happen. It's also a cool place for finding that special coin, or just buying a neat stocking stuffer.

Well I really really wanted to like this place but you cant always get what you want.Again a coin shop with rude staff this was very uncomfortabley rude I just dont understand how people that depend on customers can treat them so bad. All I can think is they do good amount business on line where they dont have to interact with people.I do wish them all the luck in the world. Maybe a trip to the Dr.Phil show and work things out.

I recently purchased a few items from Downtown Coin's online store and really appreciated the great pricing and prompt service. I got a great quality commemorative coin and exposition medal at an awesome price. It's rare to find a coin dealer that's not out to get every last penny they can when selling, and one that takes pride in offering the average collector a good deal. I appreciate it!The next time I pass near Carson City I am visiting the store to see what other treasures they have...

My wife and I had some time to spend after dropping our truck off at Carson City Toyota. We had the dealership shuttle take us to downtown Carson City so we could get something to eat and walk around. We decided to get something to eat across the street from Downtown Coin and my wife asked if I wanted to go to the coin store to check it out. I said, yes, but I don't want to spend the money. We got something to eat and walked around downtown a bit. We walked into the Carson City Nugget and I decided to try my luck with $20 in a slot machine. I got down to about $7 and I hit a major jackpot. We collected the winnings and I told my wife, let's go back to the coin store! I am now the proud owner of a Carson City Mint Morgan Silver Dollar from Downtown Coin. I have collected coins for many years but mostly when I was younger. Since we moved to Nevada about four years ago, I have always wanted a Carson City Mint Morgan Silver Dollar but did not want to spend the money. They are typically more expensive than other Morgan Silver Dollars because they are more rare. The Carson City mint was established to facilitate minting of silver coins from silver in the Comstock Lode. The Carson City Mint was created in 1863 but was not put into operation until 1870. It ran until 1885, went on a hiatus, and resumed operations in 1889, after which it ran until 1893, when it closed permanently. It is now the Nevada State Museum in Carson City. The owners Dan and Trish were helpful and we learned they have a coin club and offer classes to help educate people of all ages. A great experience and we will be back and we would recommend checking it out!
