Best pharmacy ever

June 2025 by Stephanie Curley
I saw all the bad reviews from a couple years ago, so I thought I'd post a more recent positive review.
I used them years ago and they were always great, but when I lost my insurance SaveMart was much cheaper so I switched. Then SaveMart shut down all their pharmacies (I really miss them!) and I switched back to Raley's maybe a year and a half ago.
I have ALL our household prescriptions sent here. My son has 2, I have 5+ through 2 different doctors, and my brother in law, who has Parkinson's, gets A LOT from a few different doctors. We've NEVER had to wait for any of our prescriptions. My doctor sends them over while I'm still in their office on Nye Lane in North Carson, and usually before I've even passed Raley's in South Carson I already have a text it's ready.
On the very rare occasions when they haven't had the stock to fill a certain prescription, they have always given us a few pills to get by until they get more in.
The line when I go to pick up our prescriptions is usually non-existent, and when there IS a line, it moves pretty quickly. Consultations are quick and easy.
They've been so helpful to me since my kid and I no longer have insurance! If our doc sends a new script to fill, and it's outrageously expensive, they always call me first to see if I really want them to fill a $300 script and have back up recommendations for me. There was a time recently when we went back and forth between the pharmacy and our doctor to find an affordable version of a particular medication. They were insanely helpful, and are currently saving me $350/month on that aforementioned medication.
I've been in pain management for 20 years now, and have been to EVERY local pharmacy over the years. Walmart and Walgreens were always hell to deal with - long lines, long waits, no inventory to fill medication that I need daily and no help for the 2-4 days I had to wait in agony for their stock to come in. Completely unsympathetic pharmacists and techs.
Smith's seems good, but they don't ever seem to take on new customers so I've never been able to get in there.
Now that SaveMart is gone, I've found Raley's to have the best prices and service. They're quick and on the ball before I even need it most of the time!
They may have had some staff issues a couple years ago, (at least that's what I assume from reading all the bad reviews), but as of June 2025 I believe them to be the best in Carson City.
Or maybe I should say they're the worst so I can keep enjoying those short lines.😈

They will never have your prescription on time or you might even have to wait a day or two, Please do yourself a favor and use another pharmacy if you look at all the other reviews on this place you will see that almost everyone has problems with this place.

Every time i have to deal with this place i am worried i will not get my medication in time...because i never do ... they have from my experience only 2 people working when there is space for at least 4. The 2 employees there give off a vibe that says "i just don't care and don't want to be here"... recently i called, or rather, TRIED to call because they would either not pick up the phone for 30 minutes or the line would end up busy because 3 people are calling the ONE PHONE THEY HAVE. Absolutely abysmal and i hate going there. If i didn't need medication i would avoid pharmacies altogether because there are no good ones in Nevada.

The worst! 3 days to get meds I needed after release from the hospital, and the hospital put it in before I was released! 15 minutes on hold to even check! Will change Pharmacy!

I call on the phone at 1:27 to be told to call back after 2:00 because they are closing for lunch. Why bother answering the phone? Now calling back at 3:50 have been holding 10 minutes- still holding.

We have lived across the street from this raleys for a year and a half and have been using their pharmacy since consistently. Every time my fiance and I go to the pharmacy, we always feel like we are being treated poorly and like we are an inconvenience to the workers. The workers are always short and rude to us and we are finally switching pharmacies and driving a few extra miles just to avoid the shotty service and rude customer service. There have been numerous times that we have received calls from them stating our prescriptions are ready, and when we arrive they are not filled or ready and we are met with disrespect and rudeness.PART 2: After getting home, we noticed they did not include my finances prescription after confirming it with us in person at the store. We called the pharmacy and we were told they did not have a prescription for her (despite being called 3 days prior and being told it was ready) and the pharmacist sighed on the phone and said they can fill it if we come back. We went back to the store, and the girl at the counter told us that they did not have anything for my fiance. We told her we just called and spoke to the pharmacist, and the girl didn't say a word and went into the back and returned with my fiances prescription filled. She did not say a single word to us when we questioned her about being called 3 days ago and calling the pharmacy 30 minutes ago to ask about the prescription we did not receive. We called corporate to complain, and the lady on the phone confirmed with us that she has received numerous complaints about the pharmacy and the workers there.

Waited in line at the pharmacy 10 min. When I reached the front of the line, the cashier took my name & then someone else abruptly told me the pharmacy was closed & to come back in 30 minutes. I will not be going back.

Very slow to fill medications. Usually takes 2-3 trips and multiple days just to have a prescription filled correctly. Closed a lot during regular hours due to not having a pharmacist that can make it to work, and extremely Rude when any questions are asked or if you call in to check the status of your meds to avoid multiple trips for prescription. They also run out of stock on meds a lot forcing you to either go without medications or to receive multiple partial refills of only a couple meds at a time.

This is totally the best and most competent pharmacy in Carson City. It's waaaay better than all the other crowded places like CVS (OMG awful) or crowded Walmart. Here there's hardly ever a line to wait, just stroll right up and they'll help you! Flu vax is available here as well but not Covid. They work well with all insurance plans, even Medicare if you have that. They even open on Sat. The big thing better here is the service. They don't have that you know, DMV hurry up if you don't have you stuff together attitude. They are glad to help you out. What shows they know what they're doing is how they handle drug vendor discount coupons, you know like from the manufacture that makes your co-pay ZERO! They apply those discounts no prob. Try that with some other pharmacies, it makes their heads all spin and causes a state of confusion! But not here at Raley's Pharmacy. Tip, if you have a small grocery item, they ring that up too along with your Rx, no prob. Try THAT at Walmart!

This was conveniently located across the street from our Marriott Courtyard, so we stocked our refrigerator with milk and other snacks for the baby.

Always pleasant and friendly. They get to know you by name, which is a great, small town feeling.
