Beware of this hotel: they try to scam customers by charging for damages in the room. In our room, there was a bed with sharp metal parts, and we bumped into them several times; luckily, no one got hurt. Additionally, the bathroom had a disgusting, rusty sink. After we checked out, the hotel called to say they would charge us for the broken bed. To be honest, we should be refunded for the night because the room was dangerous. I believe it’s a common practice to double the price of the stay by scamming guests with damage claims. Of course, I am filing a chargeback with my bank.

Not the first time staying here and they do a good job. The place looks a little dated but that shouldn't be too big a deterring factor. Room was fine, the bathtub was really making noise standing in it so that might need to be checked (320), wish there were more hot foods for breakfast like scrambled eggs or sausages but it wasn't bad otherwise. Close to the main road, just be careful with getting out the parking lot on the right side (from the main road) it's pretty steep.
Staff were nice and did a great job.

Tried to cancel a reservation 24 hrs before check in and they refused to refund my deposit ..terrible customer service ..I can understand the day of but not 24 hrs in advance and I had to play phone tag with the hotel and Expedia ..super disappointed in the customer service on both sides

The bathroom toilet was clogged. In the morning, I asked the cleaning staff about it, and she said she would report it to the manager. However, when I returned to the hotel in the evening, the toilet was even worse — the water mixed with feces had overflowed. They didn’t solve the issue at all.

Rachel was awesome working overnight and made sure that even on a busy holiday we had somewhere to stay for the night. She was always available for any questions and should have more reviews because she goes out of her way for the guests! Although the rooms may be outdated by a couple years, they have everything you need to enjoy a good nights rest.

Was not what we expected rooms were very dusty,no conditioner,or body wash in shower,not vacuumed or any cooking utensils, very cluddered with extra furniture. No coffee in room and folks living next to us. 👎Was not what we were looking for on our romantic get away!

This place is barely better than a motel 6. The rooms are outdated and they give you the smallest, thinnest towels. Luckily we had two beds so we could use all the pillows since those were so thin as well. The options are the tv were a joke. There were creepy people everywhere, including the staff. I was worried about my car all night. It sounded like they were doing construction above our room starting in the middle of the night. I got charged for damages to the room and was never told why. We certainly didn’t damage the room. Luckily my bank refunded me since this greedy hotel never refunds a penny for any reason. Stay literally anywhere else in Carson. The Gold Dust West is great!

Centrally located and affordable price make this hotel a standout.
We choose this hotel due to it's near by attractions such as the capitol, museums and downtown. Walking during day and night felt safe. We felt the parking lot felt safe as well. The parking lot is between both buildings. The staff was very friendly upon arrival and provided suggestions on what to visit in Carson City and surrounding areas.
The breakfast options and selections is what you would expect for the price paid for a hotel as this. Few options and some a bit more appealing than others. During our visit a few breakfast staples needed to be restocked. Basic cereal and coffee is just enough to start your day.
The rooms were average. They seemed cleaned upon our visit. The hallways also seemed to be taken care of. The rooms were a bit outdated but again the affordability reflects what one would expect.
Overall good experience for a temporary stay or rest stop.
