To preface this review, I'd like to give some context. I moved to Elko back in July of 2023, and as most people who have moved places, finding a hair stylist / barber that you're satisfied with can be quite difficult. I've tried multiple places before trying shears and was never satisfied with my haircuts.
I booked my first appointment with Jennifer on March 1st at 11:00 am. This was the beginning of my problems with her. As I was driving to shears, I get a text message asking me to come at 1:30 because she was running late. Obviously, I wasn't happy as I was already on the road. However, I begrudgingly agreed and turned around and headed back home. Afterwards, I got there at 1:30 and had my hair cut by Jennifer. She apologized for the rescheduling and gave me the first haircut I was satisfied with in Elko. I ended up paying my bill with credit card because I didn't have enough cash on hand at the moment. It wasn't until I got home that I realized I had been double charged and texted Jennifer informing her on the situation. She promptly refunded me the cost of the haircut minus tips. However, the problem was that the total cost had been double charged including my 20% tip. At this point, I didn't want to quibble and just let her keep the extra $4 as it was the first haircut I was satisfied with since coming to Elko.
Next is the experience that made me want to write this review. I booked my second appointment with Jennifer for May 10th at 1:30pm. I had asked her the day before and that was the time she said she had available. However, a day later on the 10th she sends me a text message at around 10:30 am asking if I can come the next day at 1:30pm. As I was busy with things at home, I didn't see the message until quarter to 1:00pm. I was not very happy at this point because she was the one had suggested the time and I had now been bumped to the next day. I ended up agreeing and the day passes. At around 11:00am the next day, I send her a text message confirming if I was still good for the 1:30pm appointment. However, I receive absolutely no response from her. I ended up going to shears at 1:30pm and she didn't even seem to be there. Fed up, I left to go do other things in town.
TLDR: Had multiple awful experiences with Jennifer and cannot recommend anyone to utilize her services. She is incredibly unprofessional, and I won't be seeing her again after this.
