I was excited to visit this store on our trip to Lake Tahoe this week. Upon entering, Lauren was welcoming and super friendly. She told me about the Yarn Walk event that takes place each year. It sounds like a unique and fun experience, especially seeing as there isn't a huge knitting & crochet community where I'm from. Lauren was so so sweet and encouraging about my recent entry into the world of crochet. I bought two skeins of alpaca yarn to experiment with and Lauren graciously added a tote bag from the Yarn Walk to my purchase and a pattern her mother created. The most heart warming shopping experience!! I will definitely be back on our next trip to the area!

I really wanted to go because it was part of the yarn crawl, but we went twice and they were not open. It showed open on Google maps but they were not open. Since they are way off the beaten path, I was disappointed. I peered in the window and they had cute stuff, but it wasn't open. I guess you gave to check their website as they aren't open often.

We Love the Knitting Nest! Lauren is so knowledgeable and friendly. We hadn’t been there since 2019 due to Covid as we live out of state. When we returned in October 2023 Lauren not only remembered projects we were working on but things we discussed in our lives. Be sure to check the website or call for hours to not miss out on this hidden gem!My first crocheted washcloth ☺️Thanks Lauren!

We (my sister, daughter and I) love this shop! Every time we come to Tahoe we make sure to stop in. Lauren is so helpful and friendly. We wish we lived closer so we could go more often. I bought one of my favorite patterns here (Bianca Wrap) plus some lovely wooden needles. Always find yummy yarn.

Before you drive to this shop, call to find out if it's open. I called for two days during posted shop hours and even emailed without any response. I was looking forward to visiting but luckily, I read the reviews before making the trek over to be disappointed.

We have stopped by there many times when the shop is supposedly open, trying to redeem our gift certificates from Lake Tahoe TV, or at least visit the shop, and there is never anyone there. They seem to have gone out of business completely. Have they? Jimmy Bean's in Reno is a much wiser choice.

If I could give this shop a zero, I would. Visited during posted business hours only to be told by another business at that location that the shop was closed and the owner was in Tahiti. Closed status wasn't listed on website, Facebook or on answering machine. Too far out of the way to try it again. Just go to Jimmy Beans in Reno--best selection anywhere, anytime.

Lauren is very friendly and helpful. This was the first time I had met her and she made me feel like me and my wife were old friends. She has a wide selection of high quality yarns to fit just about any project. The drive up the mountain to get there is very pretty as well. Will definitely be back to this store even thou it is a bit of a drive from home.

Great selection of beautiful yarn at good prices. If you can't find something to fit your project here you probably are not looking very hard. Lauren the lady that runs this place is very friendly and helpful. Well worth the drive up the mountain just for this shop. Check this place out you will not be disappointed.

Call before going up. Just spent 40 min driving to find the shop closed. Wasted $10 as well on a yelp deal with them I now can't use. I love buying a local yarn on a trip as a memory. Bummer

This my absolute favorite yarn store! I drive past several local good ones, but this is the BEST! Lauren is wonderful, very knowledgeable and will help you with all your yarn and knitting needs. Prices are very reasonable, and she has such a wide selection, you’ll find what you need to fit your project and fiber. It’s a little daunting to drive up into Heavenly Resort area for the first time, but the views are spectacular, and well worth the drive! Pay attention to the business hours, they are posted on her website, and she’s very responsive to customers inquiries.

My husband and I were driving from Portland back to the Central Valley and I decided that I wanted to stop at all of the small luxury yarn stores on the way to help support them, and local yarn makers/dyers, during COVID-19. The Knitting Nest was accepting customers by appointment only. Lauren quickly responded to my email and I was able to come in the next day. The store is absolutely adorable. There is a large selection of luxury yarns. I bought a handful of the most absolutely gorgeous hand dyed silk yarns for a comparable price. Lauren was extremely helpful and kind throughout. I will definitely return when the Sierra Nevada Yarn Crawl meets again.
