While I enjoy coming to this place when I am in town for work, I will no longer TIP on my to go order as I just discovered that they charge .75 cents if you order to go. I usually eat in but last night I wasn't feeling good so I took my order to go and they charged me for it and I tipped $3 to the lady who took my order, well I will keep my tip next time when I take out. If the servers have a problem with it they can take it to their boss. Sorry but not going to get charged for taking a to go order vs sitting inside and eating.

I travel to Hawthorne often for work. Unfortunately there aren't many dining options, otherwise I'd eat elsewhere. Sub par food and dingy atmosphere. Everything thats not a solid is watered down. Ice tea tastes like water with a slight tint, their chowder are just soups with few ingredients and mostly broth, their country gravy is more the consistency of chowder. All their "seasonal vegetables" are previously frozen which they sometimes will serve you with parts still ice cold. I will say their staff is usually pretty friendly, which is why this isn't a 1 star review.

Typical Casino games, we went in for the restaurant portion. Seating was plentiful and the food was pretty good. Staff was friendly as well.

I was hoping to get a home cooked meal. Ordered chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, side salad with corn for the vegetable because they don't have real vegetables like green beans. I also ordered chilli cheese fries.
The chilli cheese fries were the best thing and the only reason I am not giving them 1 star. Otherwise the corn was burnt. How do you service burnt corn? Half the kernels were black. The gravy was cold. The salad was decent and the two mini and highly processed chicken fried steaks were decent.
The service was great so no complaints there but I am not aure how the cook would serve burnt corn. That's lazy and disgusting.

The Salad was not mixed and just badly cut up, it was also just put on a platter. The Italian dressing was not an Italian dressing.
The El Capitan sandwich was rather meh.
The philly cheese steak sandwich was overdone.

Would not recommend. Salad and burger, one drink, water, keep in mind. Customer service is by far not the best. First time in YEARS, I HAVE NOT LEFT A TIP. She should be fired, hands down. How hard is it to ask, give, or supply water? It is provided from the government for a small fee. Not like I was asking for more soda or a mixed drink.

Food sucks. Waitresses are good. We had the tacos. The special which was served burnt beans. Chemical rice. The tacos were on a flour tortilla served not warmed. Chicken was chewy and weird. We wanted food not chemicals. Coming in from a huge job. Definitely not worth the stop.

Pretty good food for this town. I had the chicken fried steak with a salad and mashed potatoes. Everything was delicious, except the overcooked vegetables that came with it. It looked understaffed with my poor waitress running from table to table with no time to help everyone, so expect to wait a little.

The B.E.S.T. !!! Smoked beef Briskets, Pulled pork and pork Ribs we ever had. Also the sides, the BBQ sauce and the desserts were so well balanced and very tasteful ????????
