We passed by Chavelos many times before we finally decided to give it a shot. We didn't know what to expect, but what we got was great food and attentive servers who made sure we had everything we needed. It's got a fun, cafe feel to it and all the staff are friendly. We'll definitely be going back.

Steak tacos and fideo were both amazing. We did a take out, but the location is great. Definitely going to eat in next time.

Chili verde is a red sauce. When I sent it back they still charged me for it. A supervisor insisted I still pay. Never going back.

Chavelos is our favorite Mexican restaurant! Friendly service and great food! Came back into town for 18 hours and had to make a stop back in here to get our fix!

We went towards the end of lunch and disappointingly were informed that it's between lunch specials and Happy Hour... Thus it was a bit of an expensive event with 2 meals+ 2 basic drinks ringing in at over $60...There were 5 kinds of enchiladas and the 2 options we selected were fantastic! The chips with salsa was great and the bean dip was the star of it all!!Margarita was a bit bland and weak, the draft Modelo was significantly better.It stayed kinda empty even during Happy Hour on that Friday afternoon.But, we'll definitely be back for great Mexican food but will have to time it better for a more affordable option...

Quality food and fun atmosphere. Servers friendly. Service was quick. Owner came by each table to check on patrons. 50th Anniversary gift certificate from "kids" who researched smaller family owned venues was how we found it. We'll definitely go back. Worth the drive from Anthem.

We love this restaurant! Great location, easy access. Delicious Mexican food. Excellent flavors. Service is always quick and friendly. Colorful decor, comfortable dining room.

Me and my partner went here for some pozole and it tasted funky and had a weird smell. I’ve had nasty pozole but nothing like this! This didn’t even smell like pozole or taste like it. It tasted and smelled like it had gone bad. And instead of asking if we would like to order something else or let us pay for just the drinks they made us pay for the whole meal and we didn’t even eat it. They claimed it needed a little bit of salt but that definitely wasn’t the issue. This was our first time trying it and definitely won’t be coming back.

It was a long day. I needed chips and beans and a marg STAT! So instead of going to our normal place, we decided to give Chavelos a try, given it's about 10 min closer to our house than our normal place. Rolling up at around 515pm, I was a little worried because it's never a good sign when the parking lot is empty. The place was pretty empty too except for one other couple eating. Now, I won't lie, I know 515 is early bird time but Happy Hour and there were people who came in a few minutes after us and it started to get busy as we were leaving. The place is decorated cute and is fairly clean. The furniture is a little worn but as long as it's clean, I don't judge too hard. The service we got was ok. There was always someone different coming to our table so I don't know if they share duties or if there was some confusion. I try really hard to not be offended when people who sit after us are served first but maybe that was an oversight by the restaurant? Who knows? I will say that everyone was friendly, even if not the most attentive. I ordered a grapefruit fruit margarita but they were out of grapefruit so I switched to strawberry. No big deal but make sure when you order, you specify HH so you don't get charged full price if you are within HH time. It was a bit watered down/lacked flavor and had a sugar rim (disgusting) so I doubt I'd order it again but it was ok. The free chips/beans/salsa was really good. I have ZERO complaints about the food here. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. I wanted to try the Yelp check-in dessert but I was very full at the end of the meal (and it wasn't on the menu so I felt a little apprehensive) but I saved it for next time!

Quite tasty! We just had a nice lunch at Chavelos. The wait staff was extremely courteous and attentive. The bean dip that comes with the chips and salsa was delicious. My only complaint (and reason for the three star review) was after spending $100 (including tip) on a lunch for four, I was told they no longer give a five cent styrofoam cup for me to take my soda to go. Left a bad taste in my mouth after an otherwise lovely lunch.
