About the restaurant & décor: Eureka! in the Emergency Arts Building within the Fremont East District offers an outdoor patio as well as a space filled with slightly rustic touches, including a ceiling, floor and tables made of wood, Edison hanging lights and large windows allowing natural light.Likes: The family-friendly restaurant has a kids' menu with chicken tenders, corn dogs, a quesadilla and cheeseburger.Dislikes: There is no parking provided, and parking is difficult in the downtown area with free parking practically a thing of the past. Your best bet is metered street parking or the red-hued Fremont Street Experience parking garage at 111 S. 4th St. a block away. Also a block away, the El Cortez offers free valet parking to people who say they are dining at Eureka!Food & Drinks: We suggest beginning with the crispy glazed Brussels sprouts dressed with an orange-chile glaze, chimichurri and peanuts; or mac n' cheese balls with Fresno chiles and beer cheese sauce. Ten variations of gourmet burgers are available, the star of which is the one with 28-day-aged carrot-fed Angus with aïoli, arugula and tomatoes, which is exemplary due to the high-quality beef. A standout for non-carnivores is the veggie beet burger with a house-made red beet and kidney bean patty dressed with a savory lemon vinaigrette, or blackened fish tacos loaded with a variety of flavors via sautéed white fish, avocado tomatillo, cabbage and mango salsa. The all-American fare can be washed down with a selection from the all-American craft beer and whiskey menu, which features 40 craft beer taps, including brews from local breweries such as Big Dog's and CraftHaus; and more than 40 whiskies, all from the U.S. Finish with bourbon barrel cake topped with pecans, caramel and vanilla bean ice cream. Brunch, served from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, highlights items like steak n' eggs, chilaquiles and bread pudding french toast.
