The Shade Tree is a shelter for women and children experiencing homelessness. It provides a service for women who have enough problems already. The organization was founded by an incredibly kind-hearted woman who started it because she cared so much about healing and empowering women and children. There are, however, serious concerns about conditions at the shelter. Reviews describe inhumane conditions that the women and children have endured, including issues with black mold, backed up sewage, and bed bugs. There are also complaints about undercooked food being served. These conditions have reportedly made residents incredibly ill, requiring daily visits from EMTs. Further allegations include misappropriation of funds and donations at the federally funded organization, as well as claims of harassment and cruelty. Some interactions with staff have been described as short and rude. The shelter also includes Noah's House, which provides care for animals belonging to the women. The need for such shelters is emphasized, with a wish for similar services in other counties that currently lack shelters for women and children.

I thank God for this place! I currently reside here and I appreciate everything they have done for me. This is one of the hardest times in my entire life to go through a divorce, domestic violence, and to live in a shelter

I remember when I was a kid around 1992, my mom took us here after fleeing Caliente from her abusive husband. We stayed here about a week or two. Shade Tree gave her a job, but it was like a dollar an hr. Right after that, I think she got on Section 8. We moved into a house in North Las Vegas.
