The Lost City Museum is a small, interesting museum located in Overton, Nevada, showcasing artifacts and history from prehistoric sites in the area. It is an actual archaeological site that includes outdoor exhibits such as a Native American pit house and reconstructed pueblos. The museum highlights the early settlers, including Native Americans who made the harsh environment their home, as well as later settlers of the white man era. Visitors can see original Indian lodges and learn about the history through photos and displayed items, some from one family’s generations. The museum is on the National Register of Historic Places and offers a variety of artifacts that are explained by friendly and helpful staff. It is well worth the detour, especially for those interested in local history. The exhibits cover topics like the effects of the dam and immigration, providing a diverse and engaging experience. While the gift shop may sometimes be closed, the museum remains a worthwhile destination for learning about the area's past and early inhabitants.
It was interesting, a lot of reading articles. It is small. But good they keep it open.
