We recently had a horrible experience. We waited in line to get a car for over 3.5 hours with 4 kids and a 75 year old grandma after traveling all day. We reserved a mini-van which they didn’t have and tried to use a highlander, but it didn’t fit everyone and our bags. We then waited another hour to get a mini-van. Don’t take a reservation if you dont’ have cars.

Avis, your counter at REN airport is understaffed! Those poor staff people. Help them out, so they can help US out! The line was 45 minutes long, staff were eating while working. Help them!

Be very weary of renting from this location, more so Avis as a whole. I had a pre-paid confirmed rental reservation. Come to find out they ran out of cars, I did not receive any communication from Avis or the location that they would be unable to fulfill the agreement of a pre-paid reservation with a major credit card. Their solution, you can try and come back the next day. We might have one for you. I was left stranded, I ended having to eat one day of my hotel reservation, book another hotel at the airport. I’m already shelling out over $200 because of Avis’s shortcoming.I wasn’t the only one, probably a good 15-20 customers in the same exact situation.

Staff were friendly but extremely shorthanded. Took more than 2 hours than schedule time to finally get the car.

Avoid Avis and Budget at all cost. Every time I have rented, it has been over an hour wait to receive your car rental. Customer service and staffing is horrendous!! Even though they have a dedicated preferred line and rep, there is no one to help the 20 deep person line! I have seen multiple times where they have left the register empty for over 20 minutes with no one to help actual customers! I have never seen such a mismanaged operation.

Only had 2 service reps between Avis and Budget. Both reps worked 'preferred' queues only, leaving 30+ ordinary customers just standing. I was 3rd in line when I got in line, and left over an hour later. Avis/Budget policies and management are to blame here. Have more reps, or figure out how to service ordinary customers every once in a while. Holy cow. What a fiasco. Do you want my business or not?

Rented a suv to go up into tahoe and ski. The front two tires were dangerously bald. This made mountain driving very dangerous. Didn't notice the tires until we were already too far away.Also, there wasn't a window scraper in the car. The car in general had too many dings too count and had loose flaps in the tire wells that would shake sometimes.

There were problems at pick-up (car wasn't ready, nor in the spot, nor even in the parking lot)The car I did receive had safety issuesI believe the car received was not inspected prior to it being issued.Problems with the car:1) No ice scraper or snow brush2) Windshield wiper on driver side was defective and didn't wipe well3) Chip in the windshield that later propagated to a 4' crack4) Windshield wiper fluid was low after one day5) Left rear turn signal burned outSo you might be asking, why not leave the car if I knew about all of this stuff? We didn't know when we left, but keep in mind, this was a replacement car for the one that was NOT in the lot to begin with. It was 11pm at night. And... when the driver dropped the new car he bailed immediately.Also, the next morning, I received an email from a manager, which I replied to, but never received any phone call or email to my reply.For awareness, AVIS did credit one day of the seven day rental.

I made a reservation for a standard vehicle at the Reno airport Avis location. I prechecked online to speed up the process at the counter before heading to the airport for my 2:30 schedule pickup. After I arrived, I had to wait an hour for 8 other people to be served. When I got to the counter, an apathetic and surly associate told checked me in and then told me to wait for another half hour inside because they don’t have enough vehicles readily available and that I am in a queue. So after 1.5 hours after my schedule pickup, o will be able to get my car, which begs the question, why make a reservation at all?This is the RNO airport rental car center, get your act together Avis!

Extremely short staffed and moves very slowly. They have 7 checkin stations but only 2 staffed. 45+ minute check in on a Friday. Nearby hertz and enterprise are all more well staffed with no line. Additionally, even after 45+ minute wait, my car was not ready- even though I had requested a pickup 1 hour prior.

I rent from avis at least once per month and this location is chronically understaffed. 30+ people in line and only ever one agent. They’ve closed the avis preferred counter so you have to wait and then wait again in the cold outside for them to bring your car. The last two times I’ve rented here it’s been over an hour to get my vehicle. All the other lines have no people. Rent anywhere but here!

Avis should be shut down in Reno airport. They have absolutely deplorable customer service with excessive wait times. After waiting over an hour to get to the counter it was another 20 minutes to get a car outside. Terrible, horrible, no good, very bad.

***UPDATE: Responded to owner’s request to email details with case number, one week later no response has been received. ***Breach of contract was performed at this location.held on the my vehicle for over a hour after it was guaranteed. Was promised a credit was going to be sent to my account, never was sent. License plate tags were expired during the trip - was told this is not my personal vehicle and to leave them alone. Other customers I spoke to had the same experience with no organization or professionalism. Still in search of my credit as I paid for a certain number of hours and was never given the adjustment in form of financial credit sent to my credit card.

Absolutely horrendous. We had to wait an hour and a half to get our car, and we even have Avis Preferred. I feel worse for those who didn’t. The manager on duty was very kind (hence the 2 stars instead of 1), but I have a toddler and was traveling with my handicapped mother so the wait was very tough to handle. They need a better system for handling rentals, clearing something isn’t working.
