I visited H&R Block for the first time on March 2025 to file recent taxes. My taxes are simple, 1099 with some deductions. The lady who worked on my papers (Ms. K) was an automated human, no emotions, just doing her job, shuffled to my documentation and she said you can only take Standard Deduction. I walked out of the office with a $6K taxes bill, plus $295.00 for their services. I recently re-did my taxes and amended with deductions lowering to $4K. I personally learned that big names don't mean caring people. I am glad I was able to find a Tax Services Accountant that REALLY helped! Lesson learned.

I showed up here as a walk in and let me start by saying they were EXTREMELY unprofessional. I wouldn’t have minded doing my taxes by myself but I am filing back taxes which makes things that much more complicated. I over heard the woman I was supposed to have an appointment with say “ she’s just a walk in from earlier just reschedule.” When in reality it doesn’t matter if I walked in flew in by tornado or made an appointment everyone should receive the same respect. Anyways thanks for coming to my ted talk. I don’t recommend please take your business elsewhere where. Thank you!

No, just no. There seems to be an abundance of ignorance on tax policy and protocols for filing different types of forms along with not knowing their own companies policies. Further complicated by the fact that there is unfortunately a lot of laziness involved. This makes the entire tax return experience with this location and the preparer a miserable one. My husband and I still have not received our return.We filed 07/18/23, I’ll refrain from using the name of our tax person at this office because I believe after her mistakes when assisting us she will be a little more careful next time about what she’s saying and hopefully she takes the time to actually look in the system when someone calls 3 weeks later and requests an update. Of course H&R Block still wants their $414 bucks for filing.I give a lot of credit and thanks to Christina Office Manager with the H&R Block located off Wells Ave in Reno. She explained everything that was done wrong with this office and she offered a sincere apology and $100 off the total filing cost.There’s no benefit in getting your taxes done with H&R Block. You are safer going somewhere else or just doing your taxes by yourself online and risking the audit. These offices all over town don’t seem to know anymore about tax filing than the average person going online and following the steps to file.

After recently relocating to Reno, and retirement of our previous Tax Advisor, we needed a new tax preparer. We found Jerry Cole at the South Reno location. We were very impressed with Jerry. He was friendly, efficient, knowledgeable and thorough in preparing our 2022 Tax Return. He spent the time to explain the latest tax code dedications and credits that applied to our return. He was patient in answering all our questions. The price was very reasonable. We highly recommend Jerry.
