Let's face it, there are two similarly situated non-gambling hotels, the Plaza and Whitney Peak. There are pluses and minuses with each. The location of the Plaza is much better. It is close to the river walk, but not along the strip, the gambling and the people who congregate on Virginia Street. The parking is on-site, which makes it very convenient especially when it's cold outside. It lacks modern decor (definitely dark and old style) and has inferior amenities than Whitney Peak (small bottles of shampoo etc., plastic and paper glasses, fewer outlets) , but it is quieter and warmer inside. The staff is friendly, but the breakfast is limited. There is no EV charging, but we only need that occasionally when we bring the Tesla. This time, we really appreciated being one block from the Wobble before you Gobble run. I'm happy we picked the Plaza this time.Rooms: Large room.Walkability: One block from the river walk; easy to get to midtown and fewer homeless.

I was there one night on business. Building is very old but rooms are nice. Furniture is also old but very high quality. It’s really like spending the night at your grandparents house, cozy and welcoming.

Friendly service, spacious room, quiet. Good temperature control. Parking included and conveniently (enough) located next door to the hotel entrance. Location is right in downtown Reno, which was giving a bit of an eerily abandoned vibe on Monday night. Not a lot of folks on the street despite the very pleasant weather except for many homeless. Closed restaurants and shops did not help. Other than that it is super centrally located with Riverwalk, Reno sign and Eldorado all within 5-10 mins walking.Hotel did not offer any breakfast or dinner options from Monday to Wednesday but there are many options nearby. The hotel is aging and for instance the elevators were producing some odd noises so each time we were glad to be out.

Heard back from the owner who only mentioned housekeeping. Maybe he needs to make a visit, the lady at the front desk needs some training. The place is just dirty from the elevators to the rooms.

I was really impressed .... with everything and everyone,If you are expecting a 5-star Hilton, you are in the wrong place. If you are expecting a hotel which is clean and has a lot of friendly faces and where it takes a very short time to get from your car to your room .... then you are 100 % right here.

Friendly staff and clean rooms but the pictures on the website don't match what you see in person, as far as a bright, vibrant and cozy lobby. It was rather dark, dreary and drab. The location is awful. It's near the riverwalk OK, but it's also smack dab downtown in the middle of transients, dirt and lots of homeless. Sorry but we won't be staying again.

Has a lot of character - kept up older building. Great looking front desk, breakfast / bar on 7th floor! Clean. Friendly staff. We will be back!

This hotel is a remarkable example of a historically classy joint, the likes of which just doesn't seem to exist any more! In my prior experience, hotels are either old and run-down, or new and so painfully modern/neutral that there's nothing of interest. Either way, hotels in either of these categories basically all look the same. In contrast to other nice hotels that are covered in bland colors and plastic furnishings, the Plaza Resort Club is refreshingly authentic. It does feel old, but in the best way, not at all run-down: real wood furniture, real local memorabilia, real humans to check you in, plenty of floor space, everything you'd expect in a high-end hotel from decades past, but clean and impeccably maintained. Mattresses/linens are definitely to modern standards, and there are modern amenities like wifi, good TVs, and efficient toilets, so it doesn't completely feel like a time machine. Just a swanky place to stay with plenty of character. Very highly recommended.

Stayed in this hotel for one night and would definitely recommend it. The staff were friendly and helpful with dinner recommendations, the room had great character and was the sun terrace, pool and fitness center are great amenities. Lots of places within easy walking distance and a good location to explore the city from.Walkability: Within easy walking distance to a range of eateries, parks and casinos

Hotel seems a bit outdated compared to all the other hotels in the area that are getting renovated into more modern hotels. And the price is a little steep compared to other renovated hotels. The speak easy bar was nice. Overall I had a nice stay. I was only there for 1 night to break up my drive to

Rooms in need of updates, i.e., same furniture for a number of years. They limit the days and times for the bar area. When it gets dark, you don't want to be out walking or visiting restaurants due to concerns with safety issues. The hotel locks the car entrance gate at night due to their concerns about safety. The customer service is very good.Safety: At night, you don't want to be walking as their are un safe areas by the hotel.

I love this place. It's very clean - I don't think they allow pets so rooms are carpeted and the carpets are very clean. It's very quiet. The views are astounding. The decor is very stylish 1920's but it smells fresh. I loved the sun deck, pool, and coffee spit and lounge. Great customer service. I felt very safe. Velvet everywhere.

Good location. 5 mins away from the National Automobile museum and the Discovery museum. Lots of food choices nearby. Free, secured parking. They put a $75 hold for a clicker which isn't a big deal. Price was reasonable. I booked thru Hotels.com. Room was good size. We got a king with sofa bed. Excellent view of the mountains. Furniture was dated but it had a fridge and a microwave which is great when travelling with kids. They had a keurig too which I prefer over the old coffee machines. Crib was in the room when we got there which is nice. Bathroom looks newer and clean. Plenty of storage for our clothes, etc. Staff was friendly and responsive. We requested additional towels and it was delivered in less than 5 minutes. My kid enjoyed the heated pool on the 7th floor. They had a mini fitness center too. We didnt get to try "Thirsty's" but heard good things about it. We were given coupons which is nice. Minus one star for the dirty carpet which needs to be replaced or deep cleaned. Other than that, would recommend this place.

A breath of fresh air on our road trip that felt like a relic from an era when hotels were actually nice. Super spacious room which was great because we are traveling with a baby and have a lot of associated stuff. Crib available by request and actually in the room when we got here. Comfy beds with 2 different kinds of pillows to suit different tastes, and a really friendly helpful staff.
