Nice place, good food, great stuff, but...Serena the owner is rude and has no idea how to talk to people. You treat your clients like we are nothing but we pay you money and your staff's salary. Never again

Eggs Benedict are delish...but why so stingy with the Hollandaise sauce? Come on!

I rarely leave reviews especially negative ones, but I've never been to a restaurant where I wasn't even offered water. Everyone was extremely rude to me. I guess it's fine though because the food wasn't even really worth it. Won't be back.

We were told about this restaurant by a longtime Reno resident. I looked at the menu online and thought it looked good, but some of the reviews were on the negative side. Mainly the negative reviews discuss the quality of the service and "attitude" that the workers have. Apparently they also do not allow dogs because the "food is so good the dogs can't help but eat it". Well, nevertheless I decided why not try it out. I get dressed up nice in a suit and everything, and when we get there, I kid you not, it was like stepping into a time warp. The person who greeted us seemed frazzled, busied, and overworked. Tired even. Our server was frenzied, aggressive, overly "chummy", and rushed. They had basically two or three people working there, running the entire restaurant. Maybe one guy in the back. I don't really blame them for losing it a little. The food was very random and there wasn't really a theme. Just things stuffed in things stuffed in things. All kinds of random sauces and purees and crusted things. It reminded me a lot of Gordon Ramsay's restaurant overhauls, where the menus are so complex and exhaustive that he forces the owners to redraw the menu with 10-12 simple and delicious items. There were two unique and good things about this place, however. That being (1) the 1920's craftsman architecture of the building, and (2) the sweet sweet story of the restaurant's original founder. For architecture nuts, the stones are real and hand-mortared together. Every detail of the building is exquisite and vintage. The story of the founder is on the website and very endearing. Overall, it's fine.

The food was very good, but the BLTA (Bloody Mary) wasn't! It was weak and came with 1/2 slices of bacon, a small wedge of avocado & limp piece of garnish. We won't order that ever again. If it wasn't for my wife's birthday breakfast I would have sent it back. The other downside is it took forever to get a high chair and we were the 2nd group in the door with reservations. Plus, they knew when I placed the reservation we needed a high chair. Finally, the server never came back to ask if we needed any refills or another beverage. Even though the food was good I hesitate to go back.

On Sunday 4/28, I walked up to the hostess and asked a table for one. She completely dismissed me, looked down and said “up at the bar.” When I sat down at the bar, the bartender did not greet me, he simply put a menu in front of me and walked away.I usually love coming to this restaurant, but this was a complete miss on treating a guest like they are valued, and with friendly service. Even if it is just one person. Will not be going back.

This was an underwhelming experience compared to expectations. Biggest issue was understaffing especially servers, given we went at peak time for breakfast this is largely a management issue.

I have gone there several times, but never again! GOT FOOD POISONING FROM THE EGGS BENEDICT, been sick for 5 days! Terrible service by the owners daughter (her photo is on the fireplace mantle) She was very rude from the moment she took our reservation, and when we got there, took our drink order and never brought it. The Bloody Mary mix was horribly, so much horse radish , you could chew it. Our table was crammed in a tiny spot w no room for us or the people on either side of us to get in and out.

Me and my wife were visiting Reno for the weekend and we ran across this home looking restaurant. The hostess was very nice and welcoming. I ordered the seafood omelet which was very very delicious. The cooks are very good. The food was great! If I'm ever back in Reno I will definitely have my breakfast @ The Stone House Cafe.

I feel like the staff always have a look like it’s an inconvenience. Which I understand when you offer frozen beverages with 5+ ingredients. But I know they have the capacity to be friendly when it’s not busy.
