I shopped at Safeway on 12/31/20. At about 5:20 pm I reached for a bottle of 1.5 liters generic Creme Soda. The rack was above my face ( I am 5'6"), the bottles were tipped over in their slot. As I pulled out a bottle the tipped-over bottle below it fell off the shelf landing on my right foot. I had ballet flats on, the bottle hit the top of my foot. The force of the bottle falling almost 6 feet split the skin open just above my unprotected toes. The pain was excruciating and I dropped to my knees. A man with glasses saw this happen. He asked if I was okay. I wasn't but said yes. I put both the bottles of Creme Soda in my cart. I limped to the check-out stand and waited in line. I looked down and saw that my foot was bleeding. I put my purchases on the conveyer belt, paid, and showed the checker, Levi, my foot. He said he was sorry. I asked him to call a manager. Levi did not have a phone or PA system at his check stand and told me to go to customer service. I looked around and did not see customer service. I was in pain and decided to leave. I am not a "sue-happy" person. When I got home I was horrified to see how bad the injury actually was. Grocery stores need to stop putting heavy items above 5 feet.
