This hotel is in the middle of a rebranding from the Hard Rock Hotel to the Golden Nugget so some things were understandably not in the best condition. When we checked in, the room we were assigned was in rough shape. The room service was not finished (the bed sheets and towels were all in a pile on the floor) and the window had been cracked open with the heater on full blast, resulting in full condensation all around the window with water damage on the window sill. We had also requested a Lakeview but the view on the 8th floor was basically blocked by the other hotel building. After mentioning this to the hotel registration, we were assigned a new room that was much nicer and we also had our resort fees waved. Additionally, the front desk manager was incredibly understanding and went above and beyond in making sure to follow up with us afterward to make sure we were satisfied. Now that's what I call hospitality!

When this was hardrock cafe it was all nice and front desk is good. Rooms looks like a cheap motel. Bellboy is rude. Front desk not as helpful as before. Not coming back. Not kids friendly anymore. This hotel needs to close and renovate the whole place.Rooms: This hotel needs to close and renovate all rooms.Safety: Parking is not safe people just park there to smoke weed without thinking kids maybe around smelling weed.

Stayed for a weekend as I visited Tahoe. The theme of the Hard Rock Hotel was still alive and well with its classic imagery on the walls and doors of the hotel. The scenery outside was beautiful with a nice view of the mountains next to the Bailey Hotel. However When visiting I noticed a two small things that caught my attention. The first being that there was flies in my room when all the windows and vents have 0 openings to the outside. The mattress that I slept on was fairly rough to sleep on leaving me with back and neck pain as I woke up each morning. Other than that the stay was good. Service at the front desk was very friendly and quick to answer questions I had.Food & drinks: There was plenty of food and drink downstairs next to the casino. The restaurant downstairs was pretty good with very fast service and very tasty food.

They have THEE BEST bar of all the casinos around here inside the Golden Nugget. It's called center bar. Friendly and attentive bartenders, great atmosphere and vibe. The casino is ehhh. I've never really walked away a winner at this casino but that could be my own doing ?

Decided to come to the Golden Nugget here in Lake Tahoe. When I arrived I went to the Rewards Club window to get a players card. The staff acted like I was inconveniencing them. They told me in a very rude way that if I wanted a players card I had to (REQUIRED) for me to provide them with my telephone and e-mail information. I never provide this information to any casino. When I said No I was told that I was not able to obtain one. When I asked to speak to the manager they reluctantly gave me a card. I insisted on speaking to the manager and when he came out the first thing he said was I never have problems with my staff what’s the problem. I proceeded to explain the situation and he said ok. Never did he apologize or say anything to correct the situation. I recommend don’t waste your time. Golden Nugget is not worth the time.

The hotel was under renovation after being taken over from hard rock. Rooms were definitely rundown and in need of attention. Guest services reps were kurt but not overtly rude. Seemed a bit understaffed. Good location and across the street from the concert venue.Rooms: Bed was worn out. Bathroom was falling apart. Hot water and elevator issues plagued the stay.Food & drinks: Limited variety onsite but each place into was tasty. Friendly bar tenders.

We was here for about three hours. We don't gamble but was at a presentation in a meeting room and ate in one of the restaurants. The Alpine Union Bar & Kitchen was great. The areas that we saw in and around the casino looked fine. The parking garage was disgusting. The elevator looked like it hadn't been cleaned or tended to in ten years. The garage wasn't even half full but we saw a vehicle with a flat tire. One with a broken window. And one with the both rear wheels missing and it was sitting on some skids. I would not park my vehicle in this garage.

I wish my husband would have read reviews before booking. It is SO freaking cold. I supposedly turned on the heater and it was blowing COLD air. So we went downstairs to ask if we could switch rooms since the heater wasn't a working. Turns out the temps are regulated in the whole hotel. It is freezing outside and the room is sitting at 60F. 5 min after a worker knocks on the door and just hands me a blanket and says "toma" in Spanish or "here" and just walks off. I'm like okay thanks ?? The beds are comfy, I give it that. I would not recommend staying here. It's LAKE TAHOE, nothing really is cheap to begin with... but definitely do not waste your money here. I came with the expectation that Hard Rock was nice & this was just a complete miss.

Bad Timing for our stay - the Golden Nugget was previously Hard Rock. The owners have not done any noticeable changes or upgrades which are desperately needed.Room - the temperature is preset. You can’t change it. At night the room was super warm, not comfortable. Room is sparse. Two nightstands, a bed and a chair. Had to ask for hand towels, wash cloths and pillows. Carpet had duct tape and patches.Overall atmosphere - not welcoming. Staff did not engage unless they had to. Casino was empty.Hopefully, they will renovate and change the overall atmosphere of this hotel.

After dinner about 7 came back to the room, room was 58 degrees, turned on the heat, no warm air. Called the front desk "we'll bring extra blankets and a space heater" an hour goes by and someone comes with one blanket and no heater. Call again and they say "ok we'll bring a heater" 30 more minutes go by and we call again "if you want it sooner come to the front desk and you can get one" which I do and low and behold they are out of space heaters. If I paid $80 a night at one of the many cheap motels I wouldn't mind, but $200 a night for a "resort" and a 58 degree room? What a joke. On top of that there is a noise of what sounds like a roller coaster pretty much non stop in the tower closest to the parking lot. Either peel off some extra cash to stay at a different casino or go stay at a cheap motel. If there was any way to reach out to management to express my thoughts and ask for a refund I would have done so without feeling obligated to write a review. But there's not so here I am being a Karen just hoping that this joke of a hotel loses at least a little business

I am just so very disappointed that they are charging not one but two resort fees and there are no buffets anymore, no valet parking anymore, no bell staff for luggage anymore. AND... they charge you 20 dollars to park even if your staying the night! It is making me rethink staying at a casino when I go to lake Tahoe from now on. The staff was really good about bringing me extra pillows and a refrigerator but unfortunately I had to call the front desk with my cell phone as the room phone doesn't work.

Total trash!Went for a work trip. It’s clear they don’t care about their property. Absolutely no security measures to enter the building or elevator. Anyone can walk in the back door and go up. It was filthy around the entrance to the south tower. Stains all over the floor. My room, sweet baby J… I had to push my door closed or it wouldn’t latch. Closet door was off the track and had to be lifted to open and close it. The carpet on the edge of the bathroom was ripped and shredded. Stains on the floor. Lamp shade was crooked with stains on it. No plug/stopper in the sink. Mildew and mold in the shower and you can tell they painted over the black tile grout. Ironing board cover looks like it was rode hard and left in the sun. Iron ruined my dress even though I cleaned it off first. If I hadn’t been in such a rush and a full schedule of meetings I would have walked out. Only positive thing was the bell hop who was very prompt and nice. No valet parking either. We didn’t eat there because if the rooms were that bad I don’t want to even imagine what their kitchens looked like. Total trash and honestly needs to be demolished.

Very nice, professional, and efficient front desk staff. The hotel might being going through a transition from the Hard Rock to the Golden Nugget, so this review may not apply after they complete whatever renovations that apply. The hotel looks, feels, and smells out dated and old. The gated parking is annoying and they charge for parking and a resort fee. The resort fee doesn't bother me, but you need to use your room key to get in and out of the parking lot. When you check out, you need to leave the parking lot with your room key and if you return the room keys you need to drive back to the front, get out of your car, and go turn them. Rooms don't have a refrigerator. Seems like only 1 of the 3 elevators worked, because that's the only one that I saw open or close. Great location across from Tahoe Blue Event Center if you are there for a show.

I can only be nothing but honest with this one. Either the Hard Rock simply gave up or dodged a bullet and got PAID. However, Golden Nugget...you got alot to work on. I'll post pics for people to decide as well. I stayed here for a wedding i was attending (at another hotel) and the price was a little lower than the competition next to and across the street. I should have just paid the extra $200.00. The TV remote was broken, light fixtures were non operating, the doors on the closet were busted off the hinges, i still never found an ice machine, there's bottled waters in the room....for $4 a bottle, the safe was not working and called twice to see if they could fix it so I could place my valuables in there (I'm still waiting for security to show up to repair it), the best part...the heater and AC were not working. And when I called, they gave me some excuse about how it hasn't worked for a while. The remedy for the cold, end of only September temps (it got down to 33° at night)...EXTRA BLANKETS they would provide!?? The temperature never rose above 60° during the day and was down in the 50's at night in my room! I asked are there any differences in other rooms, I was told unfortunately they are all like that with the old air system (posted pic of the sign in room). Not sure how thats going to work in the dead of winter unless you like the snow temps in your room. There were times in the morning i went on my balcony to warm up at 8 am because outside was getting sunlight to keep you warm! Room electrical outlets were not fully functional, they had plenty of USB outlets however the electrical plugs were burnt out. So the location where i was staying was the South Shore Room (Section) and maybe just the absolute worst of the worst in the resort. Absolutely ZERO security in the room section of the resort so ANYONE can walk into the room area and get into the hotel. There is nothing to eat after midnight in the entire casino, only a select few card tables were running. Guest services were taking "requests" however blankets were the only thing I received 45 min after the call was made, and I met the guy with my blankets downstairs because I was tired of waiting. Almost forgot to mention there was a stripped down vehicle in the parking garage (pics added). The room keys hardly worked trying to get in/out of the parking garage. After all that mess, they charge you for parking....$100 for 2 nights. Probably gonna skip this hotel for good. You can try it for yourself but the other reviews that are negative are pretty spot on thus far. Entertainment was next to non existent and I was at Harrahs and Harvey's the majority of the trip.

We had no idea that the Hard Rock had become the Golden Nugget. Our confusion started right at the curb with mixed branding everywhere. I entered the lobby through glass doors that had smear and hand prints. The line at reception was long and the two attendants were more interested in their ongoing dialogue than engaging with the guests they we checking in. We got to our room and it was freezing. 60 degrees. We were greeted by a sign that we could call for blankets or a space heater and a refrigerator. in the middle of the room. It was on but did not cool. We called and request both and left for a dinner. We returned 2 hours later at 8:30-neither had arrived. We called again this time asking that the locked safe be opened when they come. An hour passed so my husband went to the lobby and there was not record of either call. He requested again, this time adding the broken closet doors and burned out lights. Finally at 10:30 a man showed up with 2 blankets and said that is all they had. A different person opened the safe and the closet doors and lights could not be addressed that night. There was garbage in the elevator, there were smeared hand prints drug down the doors, the carpet everywhere was threadbare and filthy. It was so cold in our room that we could not sleep. We had events that day for a wedding so we got up at 4 to make coffee. The last straw was the whole top of the coffee machine was not attached and the machine was broken. We packed and checked out. The person who checked us out said she would credit our whole stay. Well much to my surprise, the stay was to be $612 per my email confirmation, I was charged 920.22 and given a $100 credit. I called and the person said I had to talk to the hotel manager, Roxanne. I left a message so let's see how this goes
