Overall service and location are fantastic. Rooms are to be desired. However, they are old. We were told it was haunted but didn't get to experience this because of the people who were fighting down the hall all night. I would recommend visiting on not a busy weekend. I will say that staff was very friendly.

Vintage, clean and beautiful! Excellent service. It was memorable for us to visit and learn about the hotel's history.

Shout out to Connie from Steve. Thanks for the tour of this most interesting Hotel.I got off the beaten trail to take pictures and here is the most enigmatic woman shoveling snow and allowed me to pitch in, not knowing she was the owner and proceeded to have the most memorable day on my entire sojourn. You are down to earth , beautiful, gracious and charming.Im fortunate to have met the living embodiment of the Silver Queen. ps, I felt guilty on the way home,I should have finished the shoveling. Yours truly,Steve.

What a wonderful place to stay! The staff were amazing, accommodating, and genuinely cared about making everything perfect! The room was warm and had plenty of space for moving around. The bed was very comfortable and I had plenty of pillows. The Wi-Fi worked great with no lapses in service. This building was built in 1876 and brings the charm and grace of the era right to you. We had a wonderful wedding in the chapel and enjoyed every moment of our stay!

The Silver Queen is an amazing and well-preserved piece of history! The rooms do lack some amenities, but that's part of an authentic 19th century experience. The bed was plenty comfy. The bathroom was clean. And the owner was a very nice woman. The bar downstairs has stiff drinks and lots of cool historic items, including the giant Silver Queen herself. We didn't have any paranormal experiences, but still had a great stay!

The Silver Queen is such a great old hotel with amazing character. The room I stayed in was simple but cozy with great views of the street below and the hills in the background. I highly recommend staying the night.

Some people just don't get it.... comments like, "The cleaning lady was wearing a sports bra, it was so hot....." Please note your surroundings and realize exactly where you are and what the location affords. As it clearly states in the informative advertising literature when booking a room, 'There are no modern things like A/C, etc.'It was hot.Why would such a thing bother you?If you wanted a premium hotel then why didn't you stay at the Ritz and pay 5 times the expense?

Love the fact that the hotel is right on the main street and is within walking distance to everything so we didnt have to worry about driving. The hotel is interesting enough and I love all the history to it. But be warned if you are looking for something with all the amenities that a normal hotel would have this is not the place for you. There's is no AC/heating and the windows don't open so it gets really stuffy, theres no staff after a certain point so if something happens you're screwed, and theres no fridge or tv. They do provide a mini fan but it doesn't offer much help. Some of the rooms are so small that bed literally blocks the door and bathroom from opening completely so you have to squeeze in to get in or out. The beds are rock hard and sink in the middle so it's really hard to sleep. The backdoor where the smoking area is, is left wide open all night so anyone could just walk right in. The walls are really thin and you can hear everything going on outside. We had little kids running and screaming in the hallways, dogs barking, and drunk people yelling in the hallways. If you're a light sleeper you're pretty screwed. I also suggest that you ask to see the room before paying as some of the rooms have such bad water damage on the wall that paint has peeled off and mold has grown in.

This was all it was meant to be. Charming, nostalgic, very authentic. I will definitely be back. I stayed in one of the suites as a suite would be in the 1800's. It was romantic and very exciting. Love the barber chairs!!! Only suggestion, add a shower head holder and curtain, still loved it, but much needed!! ❤️❤️❤️

Suppose to be haunted. No frills, no TV, no air-conditioning hot hot hot on the 3rd floor and lots of stairs. But overall, it is a very cool place to stay when visiting Virgina

We stayed three of the four nights we had booked in three different rooms. The first room (1) had a stain on comforter, dirty carpet, and a cut in the linoleum at bathroom door that would hurt your foot when stepped on. There was no window for air. The second room (12) only had one window that would raise and no shower. The bathtub had a spongy foam on bottom to avoid slippage. There was no way I would sit in that tub. It did have a hose connected to faucet with no where to hang it. Therefore, of one took a bath you either held the wand the entire time the water was running or it laid in the bottom in everyone's (public use) dirty water. The third room (18) on the third floor up some very steep steps. The windows raised. This room was akin to an inferno. The cleaning lady works in a sports bra because it is so hot. The walls are dirty (see pictures). The pillows seem as old as the hotel itself. The sheets are also colored so you cannot tell if they are clean. The street was loud the nights we stayed. Party goers were breaking bottles in the streets, yelling, hitting parked cars, etc. Only parking available at this hotel is street parking and the front desk is NOT 24 hours. The two younger ladies working the front desk were amazing. It is within walking distance to everything in the town. It also had a great view.

I'm skeptical of "haunted" locations, so I didn't experience anything. But the woman that checked us in and served us at the bar was super friendly and went above and beyond to make sure our group was taken care of. The rooms are what you should expect when you look for this kind of atmosphere/experience. Nothing fancy, but comfortable enough for you to appreciate the environment. Would definitely visit again.
