It’s interesting to see what was going on during Virginia City back in the day. The museum has a decent display of artifacts and a model of the mine tunnels under the city. The movie is dated and the resolution is sub pare. Our experience was greatly diminished due to the cigarette smoke that filled the museum. When we entered it was detectable and worsened as we went about the museum. It seemed to come from the front office that had a sign that said No Smoking. Disappointing!!!!

I have been to this museum at least four or five times and I always enjoy it. It seems small, but there is a lot packed into this museum that is worth seeing especially if you have a fascination with how folks lived in the 1800's. I don't want to give too much away, but they have old mining equipment (even with machines mining was a tough job), household furnishings, dolls dressed in common clothing for the time, old newspapers and paperwork, some guns, and other machinery like old slot machines and cash registers. My favorite display is the old medications display. There is a video room included in the admission (very inexpensive at $5 per person). The video plays on a loop and takes about 15 minutes to sit through it in its entirety. There is information on The Comstock, Piper's Opera House, and Mark Twain who stayed in Virginia City for a time. My husband thoroughly enjoyed it too and commented on it several times after our visit. He especially loved the old phones as he worked in telecommunications. The staff are always friendly, informative, and helpful. Definitely a great museum to check out for a trip back in time!

This museum is a little place right at the entrance of Virginia City. It was only 4 dollars a person. The gentleman running the front was very nice and personable. There are so many cool historic pieces with information of what it is and some of the uses of objects. It is a little place so be sure to look at everything! Definitely worth the visit, good opportunity to take pictures outside.

The best $4 you'll ever spend at a small museum. Really happy we took the time to see the place and the road to get here was a lot of fun to drive.

A lot of advertising but not so much to see. Of course a lot of interesting stories, models, tools and much more about the mining history. Even a short film, featering Merlin Olsen (Little house in the prairie) about the area and town history. Nice giftshop. Anyway, entrance is only 4 Dollar, so drop in!

Small little museum with some cool stories and artifacts from the silver and gold mines that once made Virginia City the richest place on earth. That is a good short video that tells of some history of the town, and highlights that this was the place where Mark Twain got his start writing.

The museum is nicely laid out with plenty of interesting and well preserved old west artifacts displayed outside and inside the museum. There was also outdoor benches amidst the western artifacts to just sit and relax on a nice and sunny Saturday morning.

What a place! So much packed into such a small space. And there's more around back! Things from the people's homes, Medicine cabinets, things from everyday life that have gone for good. Although I was surprised to see a Rxall bottle (Rxall is now RiteAid). Beautiful hurricane lamps, guns, desks and cabinets that must have been used as closets. There was just so much! A nice little gift area. We found some really nice pottery mugs with a Virginia City metal tag on them. Can't microwave, these beauties, but then, I suppose microwaving something from an artifacts museum would be sacrilegious. You can take as long or short a time visiting. It's self supervised.

Finally made it to Virginia city on a day and time most businesses were open. First stop was "the way it was museum" $4 for the entrance wasn't too bad. They have lots of antiques and artifacts and most have a little description and history of what you are looking at. Definitely worth the visit.

Really cute stop. Quite warm inside. Lots of history. Tons of cool exists to explore. Lots of mining and silver. Super cool dental display!!! At the very rear you find a movie. It's constantly ran. Nice and cool in theater room. You can learn about Tge Comstock, Mark Twain, and Pipers opera house.. in this short film. About 15 min. It was an ok film. My husband was over it lol, cool information about Virginia City though. It's small and cost $4 so buy a ticket and check it out!!

This was a nice way to kill a few hours in the afternoon. Most places to see are soliciting you for cocktails while waiting.Virginia City has tons of history and much is located here. There really was a lot of rhyme or reason for sequence of displays. But neat to see stuff that was 100+ years old. There seems to be zero public restrooms in all of Virginia City...inclusive of here. Make sure you don't ask and use the restroom prior to admission.Dont take American Express either...

Nice museum to check out about the mining activity and the local history of Virginia city. There is $4 entrance fee for adults and children under 11 are free to enter. The tickets include a 15 informative video about the city worth watching if you have time and interest ☺️.
