“I drove my flatbed down to Bengochea Circle because the name Poke N' Peek sounded less like a thrift store and more like a tactical maneuver I used to use in high school wrestling.
I pulled up to the sign that says 'Wed-Fri-Sat 10-2' and realized this place has tighter operating hours than the bank. It’s basically a speakeasy for used Tupperware. If you aren't there in that 4-hour window, you aren't poking or peeking; you're just sitting in the parking lot staring at a closed gate.

I walked in hoping to find a replacement carburetor for my generator. Instead, I found a red glass plate that looked suspiciously like the one my grandma threw at me in 1998. I tried to negotiate a trade involving a bucket of copper wire and a slightly aggressive rooster, but the ladies volunteering there run a tight ship. They don't want livestock; they want cash.

Four stars because the prices are lower than my credit score, and I found a denim jacket that smells like it has survived three Burning Mans. Lost one star because I felt weird telling my wife I was going to 'Poke N' Peek' for the afternoon. She thought I was going to the hospital.

“The Lady at this store Margaret she said her name was. Super nice and accommodating. Full of local information and courteous and helpful to even check the coffee place for us if it was open. The best thing was after we paid for the purchase, she then said "Have you guys checked out the Meow? (and another antique store I forgot what name she said)" Businesses are so greedy and competetive nowadays that its rare to hear someone like Margaret more than happy to support and advertise the other antique stores nearby.”
