DO NOT ORDER GENERAL DELIVERY WITHOUT READING THIS.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE USPS POSTAGE AS WELL OR THEY WILL NOT ACCEPT THE PACKAGE - THEY WILL NOT TELL YOU THIS (IE IF IT IS BEING SHIPPED FEDEX OR UPS IT ALSO NEEDS TO HAVE PAID USPS POSTAGE ON IT) *Clearly not their fault but their incompetence in educating people on what is needed for a general delivery is frustrating.
Came in on a Wednesday after ordering my first package for general delivery. I'm traveling and needed something while on the road so ordering to a home address is not an option. SPECIFICALLY came in asking if there was anything I needed to do to make sure it would be delivered as a "general delivery".
I was assured no and as long as I had my ID i'd be all set, she knew it was coming through Fedex and even mentioned that sometimes they don't deliver.
Thursday I get a notification it was not accepted so I went in to ask what happened since I was only meant to be there for the day this was a huge inconvenience. She said that they didn't get the package but I could go over to Fedex in Carson City and pick it up. They proceeded to TAKE THE NEXT customer while I was standing there taking a picture of the address she sent. I asked additional clarifying question trying to understand what happened and she said that sometimes that happens and I should go pick up the package.
The package is expensive and Fedex will not allow a pickup without changing the address so I'm thinking I should just wait and hope that it gets delivered.
Unfortunately it is labor day weekend so I have to wait 4 days for Fedex to attempt delivery again.
Sure enough the following Wednesday Fedex tries again and I get ANOTHER notification that the delivery was refused. I go in to ask what the issue is only to be informed that they never would have accepted it in the first place from Fedex if it didn't also have a label printed from USPS something I could have contacted the shipper about to either change the address or send directly through USPS from the original send date had I been instructed that for general delivery, there is actually more that needs to be done other than "show your id".
Unreal experience.

We’re the people at the post office always a little confused & usually unprepared. I was ready to catch a few eye rolls. Actually not in the slightest! Cory was incredibly helpful. Above & beyond to help us & getting our packages shipped. While also being fast & tentative to the rest of the patrons. 5 star service in a town that needs more of this!

Strick regulations, slow and out of date government system. Often we are forced to use this USPS .Often disappointing as compared to the more reliable ups and fed Ex .

I work in customer service and if someone walks in before closing u help them ! The guy and gal refused to help me and I was In there before 5pm !I get that u want to go home but u need to do ur job ! and u close at 5! Anyone that walks in before u need to help and it was somthing super simple !Or u could’ve simply said , I’m sorry we are closed , but no they where supper rudeSMH

We have a post box, and therefore have frequented this location on a weekly basis and we love Terry and staff! They're so awesome! They always remember us and we always end up chatting. It's the best service my husband and I have ever encountered in all the various places we've lived! Thanks you guys for being amazing, we're going to miss you!

We have spent 2 summers in Tahoe and have our mail forwarded to this Post Office. Everyone there is friendly and beyond helpful. After going in once or twice, they know who we are, call us by name and immediately head back to get our mail.

I've had a box here since 2010 and I've gotten to know most of the employees. Hands down, this is the best post office I've interacted with in the Reno/Tahoe area AND any post office in southern California (where I'm originally from). If you're looking to get a P.O. box in the area, get one here if you can.
