Ruined our day! My partner and I had a terrible experience. The manager seemed rascist and incredibly rude. We planned on coming in the late afternoon with my partner and I’s family weeks in advance. We called to confirm and ask the manager if we could do a very small low-key commitment ceremony that would take no more than 2 minutes on the boardwalk behind the restaurant two days prior to showing up. The manager said that would be fantastic. My partners family of 6 and my family of 7 were dressed in our best and were going to meet at the restaurant. The manager told us that they didn't do reservations but if we came around three o'clock we shouldn't have a problem getting seats. When my partners parents arrived the manager was flustered and told them they don't do weddings and then sat my partners parents at the worst tables behind the restaurant under the stairs while just below a much better table on a sunny balcony was wide open. When I arrived with my family we were told that they don't do weddings and they can't make reservations. We explained we were not having a wedding. We were there to have some drinks and say a few words to our families and celebrate our relationship over some food and a great view, then we would be in our way. Not once did we say anything about a wedding. My partner and I went to great lengths to plan a way to celebrate our relationship with our families that was nothing like a wedding. The change in tone of the manager was confusing and frustrating, but we figured we had no where else to go as supper time was approaching. So we decided to forgo the commitment part of our plans and just have some drinks and snacks while we decide what to do next as our plans where derailed. the mamager escorted us to two tiny tables, surprisingly in an even worse location, all while the nice balcony seats were still open. A half hour later some people dressed for the beach were seated in the sunny patio seats we were not seated at for some inconceivable reason. At that point we cancelled our orders and moved on as the manager had started to become aggressive when we showed disappointment. Imagine that, instead of consoling us or providing some kind of explanation the manager started to talk down to us and suggested that the situation was probably “unsalvagable”. It was the worst experience ever on what was supposed to be a simple low key evening with our families, who live on opposite sides of the country. As a white guy I was blown away by how the manager handled the situation. It took hours for me realize that the managers tone changed completely when my partners family arrived. Stay away from this place. If this lady wasn't rascist, then I have no explanation for what happened.

Since moving to St Andrews’s recently there is no other restaurant in town where we would rather take guests. From a quiet date night overlooking the water to hosting family or joining friends for the French Bistro wine tasting, Christie and her staff and kitchen never disappoint.Nearby activities: So much to do from whale watching, shopping and wandering downtownSafety: St. Andrew’s is a place where you always feel safe.Walkability: St Andrew’s is so walkable from shops, restaurant and historic sights.Food & drinks: I am still dreaming about the feta and roasted tomatoes!Noteworthy details: Best view of the water

I love going to the Chandler Room for dinner. When I’m in St Andrews, I aim to eat here at least once a month, but it usually ends up being more often! It has such a creative, evolving and delicious menu. We always end up over ordering because it is so hard to pick. We really enjoy going with 2-3 couples so we can try as many things on the menu as possible. The drinks are great too. We loved the jalapeño cucumber margarita this summer when the weather was right and we were sitting outside. The service here is always consistently great. We love Christy and Patrick! They’re always friendly and kind.

I’ve eaten at the Chandler Room many times over the last 5 years. It has consistently been phenomenal; with the food, service, and atmosphere all being top notch! The owner, Christy, does her best to be welcoming and accommodating. It’s one of my top spots in St Andrews for both drinks and food!

It has taken me a while to write a review, but thought it was important to share.I was quite excited to book this venue for 12 people, months in advance this summer. My partner and I wanted to share a special dinner to bring our families together and we heard good things of this place.A week before the event, I called to see if the restaurant could accommodate a few extra people. We were planning to step outside to the beautiful veranda to say a few words between us and continue our meal. We were assured it was no problem. When we arrived, we were not made to feel welcome at all. Even though I booked in advance, the owner was upset, argued with me and assumed we were having a wedding which the restaurant couldn't accommodate.Even though we were the first to arrive, my family and I were not offered the "first come, first serve" , or even the "book in advance" seating. The incredible caucasity to seat people in visors and t-shirts in the best seats on the patio giving them 1st class treatment, while placing us, dressed with class, in the worst seating under the stairs. We were made to feel like a burden. I was unhappy and told the owner as much. I felt unwelcome and unhappy. Rather than trying to fix it she responded by telling us that she would compliment our drinks but that we should leave and find a different place to eat. She made faces behind my back in front of my entire family like a petulant child. What a humiliating experience.Fortunately we were able to make other arrangements at the Algonquin who treated us like absolute royalty from the first minute we arrived. We were going to spend thousands of dollars at this venue, and took our business elsewhere.

This was my favourite part of a road trip from Montreal, through New Brunswick, a stay at St. Andrews (here), on to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island before driving back up to Quebec City. A seven hotel break and this was hands down, the best out of all of them. Only a handful of rooms (six, I think) but all of thooked lovely, (full disclosure, I looked in when they were empty). As it's very close to the Maine border, from what I could gather, from speaking to others staying, a lot of people use it a stopover point for a road trip. We had booked a whale watching trip and so were staying a few days.Room was great with a kitchenette and a bathtub as well as separe shower. There was a separate seating area inside too with a sofa and TV. There were sunlounger chairs on the balcony outside which also led down to carparking area (Car Park is a little ambitious a description, as it's literally enough for residents down the side of the building, but it does have a "reserved for residents" sign and we always had a spot). The only downside, which wasn't enough for me to remove any from the rating, was that if you're on the top floor, as we were, there's a lot of stairs to lift your luggage up to, with no lift but the offer was there to help you if you needed it).Downstairs, there is a restaurant on the left and an Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar store, both owned by the hotel. I could have happily worked. my way through the menu and it is very popular with locals and tourists alike. Try to book ahead of arriving if you can as I did witness them have to turn people away. The owner recommended a pub close by for our first evening and told us she'd find a space for our second night. The food was excellent.Breakfast is on the same restaurant and had a better than average selection of yoghurt a, prettily arranged individual fruit salads and pastries. Toast was brought if you asked for it and coffees were perfect (love a latte in the morning and most places throughout our trip was literally strong brewed coffee), all in all they made it feel more homely than any hotel I've stayed at.Being on the main street through St Andrews was also a bonus as we left the car for the majority of the time and could just walk to many places. The whole town is very touristy but arriving just out of season, we could see the locals winding down for the winter with many shops and restaurants already closed. For us, it was the perfect time as I think if there too many tourists, then you can't really see the town, as you're spending all your time trying to squeeze past people everywhere and the locals are trying to keep up to everything so don't have time to relax and chat.Anyway, rambling aside, the highlight of this trip had to be the sunsets at the Treadwell Inn. I'll let my pics do the work describing them.

Arrived on Oct 1 and stayed 2 nights in room number 2 . The view from the deck outside our door was spectacular especially the sunsets. The room was clean and very comfortable with a coffee maker and mini fridge which was a nice addition. We stayed for dinner on the first night and we were not disappointed the food was excellent and very affordable. Can’t say enough about our hostess Kim answered all our questions and was very helpful in all our inquiries about Saint Andrews. We are already planning our trip for next year and will be definitely staying at the Treadwell

Visited the Chandler Room Restaurant.Tapas style shareable plates. The menu changes regularly due to seasonal ingredients.Tasty food and made from scratch. The patio has a nice view of the bay and is cozy and comfy in atmosphere. The interior has a nice atmosphere as well. The restaurant is very busy in the evenings so a reservation days in advance is advised.

Just had a fantastic night at Chandler Room! I was celebrating my birthday with a solo dinner and couldn't have felt more welcomed from the time I went in. I sat at the bar, with some delicious Malbec wine, and had some great conversation with the bartender Lisa (who was super impressive to watch mix drinks!) The owner, also stopped by and made me feel so welcome. Like I was family at her kitchen table. I ordered the patatas bravas and could have orders 4 more plates, not because it wasn't enough, but because they were SO. DANG. GOOD! Lisa knew it was my birthday, slipped the kitchen staff the intel, because when the olive oil cake (another MUST try) came out, it was lit with a candle, and the restaurant sang me happy birthday. After living away from familyfor quite some time, and it has been many years since I've had that sung to me, or had a cake with a candle toblow out. I'd also like to mention Cindy, who was waiting on other tables, but made the effort to check in on me, and make sure that I was feeling comfortable and at home in their restaurant. Every staff member I encountered was full of smiles, and made me laugh, and turned any lonely feelings I had, completely around! This is a special place, owned and staffed by special people, that I cannot recommend enough.

Had supper at the Chandler Room. I cook for a living and food is a very big part of my life. I was very gratified that Chef was ready, willing and able to accommodate my requested mods to the dish. One of the best plates of food I've had in St. Andrew's (that I didn't make myself!)

We can’t stop talking about our stay at The Treadwell! We stayed a few nights in room 5 as a “mini moon” after our wedding. We wanted to especially thank Kim, who treated us like family! She is a true gem and the Treadwell is lucky to have her.The food at the Chandler room exceeded our already high expectations. We also were able to taste some delicious olive oils from the comfort of our room. We’re already planning a trip back!

This review is for the restaurant. I'd give them six stars if I could. Good wine, great food, and that increasingly rare touch of excellent, professional service. One of the best diningexperiences I''ve had in a long time.
