“I am Robert Garrison and in 1988, I bought a used Mod. 1908 Mannlicher Schoenauer rifle 8x56 caliber. The cartridge, being difficult to acquire, made me look into perhaps re-chambering to 8x57. However after consulting with Dietrich Apel at New England Custom Gun, I decided to rebarrel with a Douglas Perminum barrel in 7x57 caliber because that cartridge would function through the rotary magazine.
