These people were super rude to me on the phone right away. Laughed at me when I accidentally said I wanted to schedule for the 15th and not 14th because of the extension deadline. I am self employed and have business expenses I wanted to write off. For whatever reason, Andrew claimed he was uncomfortable working with me and hung up. Completely discriminated me for what I do for work. Just based off of how I was treated I wouldn’t ever consider having them file my taxes in the future.

First time working with Lane Rifkin, PLLC and honestly I can say it was a smoothish process, as I didn't know what to expect. Due to a technical issue I had questions that went unanswered but once I reached out using another method, they were super responsive and were able to answer my questions and set me at ease. I will definitely be working with them again for next year's tax season!

STAY AWAY!!!
I received a letter from the IRS in early June about an issue with my 2019 taxes that determined I owed about 5k in taxes with another 3k in penalties. I sent scans of this to Lane Rifkin the next and talked with someone on the phone. I made it very clear that these were due July 10th. It took them several weeks to review and they determined it was due to an issue with my RSU earnings and they requested some additional paperwork, which I provided within two days. They asked if I wanted to file the updated return myself, or have them handle it, I requested that they file it to avoid further mistakes. After that, absolutely nothing.
I reached out via the online portal through which I had done all communication for past reviews, I tried calling the office (stuck in a loop in the automated phone tree, eventually got to a machine) and after all this I got absolutely no reply at all, they completely ghosted me. In doing this, they entirely ran out the clock and left me with no option but to pay everything the IRS asked or risk even further penalties, I didn't have time to find an actually competent CPA to take over.
I am far beyond upset, and would suggest to anyone looking that they should not trust this company with anything at all. I had hoped that a dedicated local CPA would be better than TurboTax but apparently even they are a better option.
They are *supposedly* working on my 2023 taxes (yes, three months late, and I had all paperwork submitted by early April), but I'm going to make it abundantly clear once I finally get a hold of someone that there is absolutely no way I will be giving them a single dollar after this fiasco.
update: the response to my review is a feeble attempt to appear somewhat competent. They did *not* simply suggest I re-submit my filed return, but suggested there were issues with it and asked if I would address them myself or if I would like them to do so. I requested the latter option and submitted further information that was requested of me. After this they simply ghosted me. I *did* call their office (5 times according to my call logs) and left a message on the phone along with two messages via their taxdome system. All of this was ignored. Their excuse about taxdome issues is also nonsense, based on the flawed assumption that such messages are transient and disappear after being sent. Even if they are having notification issues the message threads are persistent and I can still see it when I log in. If they know they have issues they should be checking threads, *and* they should have responded to my phone message. Their response is further proof that they do not care about their clients. While they did reply here attempting to appear somewhat competent, they have still yet to reach out to me or return my multiple messages, which they are *definitely* aware of now. They care only about the public perception of their competence, not about actually doing quality work.
TL;DR; this business is far from trustworthy and is making nonsense excuses rather than actually trying to made good for their mistakes. Look elsewhere.

I regret to say that my experience with this tax office was far from satisfactory. Despite the high prices they charged, the service was unprofessional and not up to par. It was disappointing to receive such poor value for the money spent.
Furthermore, when I tried to provide feedback by calling their office, I was met with rudeness and offensive behavior from the owner. This lack of professionalism was deeply disheartening and not what I expected from a service provider.
I would caution anyone considering using this tax office to explore other options. There are likely better choices available that offer both better service, a more respectful attitude towards clients, and better pricing.

Lane Rifkin is an unbelievable accounting firm.The are very knowledgable and have a team of professionals who work together to get the job done on time and properly. They have always been very quick to respond to any of my questions via email or text. They provide very organized documents monthly such as profit and loss statements and balance sheets that are necessary as a small business owner! I highly recommend this accounting firm.
