“I already know I will revisit this place after the holidays. Great staff, friendly and informative. The building houses the historical society, a wonderful gift shop, and an African American Cultural Center. The day I went, there was an amazing gingerbread display on the first floor and upstairs there was an exhibit of gorgeous furniture. I never knew this was here, just a few miles away from York, Maine, where I was celebrating Thanksgiving. I can't wait to go back to experience other exhibits and perhaps a walking tour around this historic hub.”

Really great to have tons of independent artists' work on the walls (and for sale), as well. I have wanted to visit for a long time and am so glad I finally made the trip!”

“Visited this local art shop while strolling Portsmouth and I'm so glad I popped in! Everything in this shop is so beautiful. Nina was behind the counter when I went in and she was so friendly. Some of the paintings caught my eye when I was in and I think I'll have to go back to get one on my next visit in. They have paintings, pottery, greeting cards, jewelry, children's books, ornaments, you name it! But in a very curated collection that is not overwhelming.”

“You will be very impressed by the caliber of works at the Kittery Art Association. Each show, which changes every month, tops the previous show....the art just keeps getting better and better! So much talent, a wonderful, light-filled space that invites you to take your time viewing the art. Each show has a theme so one should come to the gallery on a regular basis. You are sure to find a piece that speaks to you and look perfect in your home. The gift shop is perfect for picking up a last minute gift or to purchase a card. And then wander around the foreside for even more enjoyment.”
“My family and I traveled to Portsmouth for the day and stopped in the Kennedy Gallery. It’s a beautiful shop with a wonderful array of artists’ work available. We ended up buying three pieces! The ladies were incredibly warm and welcoming and even went out of their way to gift our daughter and her friend with some canvas boards when they expressed an interest in art. If you’re visiting Portsmouth, make sure you pay a visit to the Kennedy Gallery!”

“I enjoyed visiting and viewing the local ? artwork and photography. I found the photographs more interesting and you can browse through the selection of photos that are available for purchase. There are places to sit , relax and someone was available to answer questions about the artwork.Wheelchairs may have a challenge navigating the gallery.”

“I never get tired of going into this gallery because there are so many beautiful, interesting and creative items to see. They have sublime fine crafts of all kinds -- jewelry, original paintings, prints, furnishings, glass, pottery, sculptures, clothing, etc. There's a sepia print of the HMS Bounty done by a local artist as a tribute to the famed ship that I was particularly enticed by. Also, the Portsmouth Upstairs Gallery is above the Barrett Gallery and has original fine art with an emphasis on nautical paintings.”
“Lovely collection of small business, deducting one star because of the godawful dolphin pictures taped all over one of the bathroom stalls. It’s giving elementary school make it stop.”
“I had a great experience here during the Christmas season picking out a gift for my daughter. She wanted a slightly oversized cream colored fishermen's sweater and it was a little tricky figuring out the right size for her. The sales woman I worked with was very friendly and helpful, and in the end we ended up with the perfect fit. I'll totally be back. They had a wide range of items, some expected and others more unique. I'd say it was totally worth the trip to check it out, I know I'll be back.”
