Why does the post office refuse to deliver mail to half the town?

We came to Grantham post office in the hopes of applying for passports. On their website passport walk in hours are listed as 9:30-10:15am Tuesday through Friday. At 9:30 we came and were denied claiming they did not take walk ins and to book an apt. I showed them the hours online and they said “yeah we don’t do that yet but I’ll ask”. The male went into the back to ask if anyone could help and a woman responded “no I don’t want to but thanks for asking”. Needless to say, staff is very rude and unhelpful and we will not be returning. I truly believe the employees would benefit from a professionalism in the workplace class.

The new post master is fantastic! My packages are always there and waiting for me and the know my box number by name now. I’m grateful for a small town office where everyone is kind and friendly.

It's hit or miss on which employees are working on a particular day. Customer service ranges from cheerful to "in need of anger management classes".

I have had it with this post office. I have had so many packages returned as undeliverable. I am so very disgusted and disappointed in the service here. There is one person in particular that is extremely rude and disrespectful. Something needs to be done as soon as possible. It’s totally unacceptable
I have had at least 35 undeliverable packages in six months , 7 alone this week.
My God. Please do something now!!!!

Every other time I try to receive a package it gets sent back, lost, or marked down as “undeliverable” because someone wasn’t in to receive it. Nothing is wrong with the PO address I’m using. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars having items reshipped or just lost.
Whoever the lady managing this place is needs to be fired ASAP. She’s incredibly discourteous and the only thing she does is make people’s lives harder. She prefers to get rid of packages by returning them or rejecting them I’m sure, instead of actually receiving them and doing her job. Everyone I know in this community complains about the same exact person with loosing packages. I will be filing serious complaints until she is out of there. Enough is enough. And I implore everyone else who feels the same to do so too. Her attitude is literally costing us, probably thousands collectively.

Postmaster is rude, unorganized, and awful to customers. She needs to be fired. Constantly slamming packages down or shoving them across the counter at you. Everything is backed up, and I am missing SEVERAL packages. For all I know she could have just thrown them away. The service here used to be exceptional under the former postmaster, but now it is absolutely horrendous. Seriously, this woman needs to be fired. She is a cranky, moody, and awful to be around. If she’s not gone with in the next month I will be filing a report against her to assure that she is fired and never works a government job ever again for the rest of her life. I am missing likely hundreds of dollars worth of packages. Maybe I’ll sue her personally. FIRE HER.

I hate to be one of *those* people who has a bad experience and then spreads it on the interwebs...but, alas, here I am.I live in the Eastman community just down the road from the Grantham post office. We have no mail boxes in our neighborhood, so we are all forced to get PO Boxes. Based on reading these reviews, when we moved here in December I chose the post office in Georges Mills, even though it's not the closest to our house.Amazon, among other online retailers, gives no indication as to whether the packages will be delivered by USPS vs UPS or FedEx. UPS and FedEx will deliver packages to our houses, but USPS refuses to. Another issue is that if packages are delivered outside of the typical 9-5 PO business hours, then even USPS can't get them to our PO Boxes and marks them as undeliverable. So a neighbor suggested putting our PO Box number as the second line of my address, so that both addresses show up. So it is listed as this:Physical AddressPO Box + CityCity, StateI checked my account and got a message showing it as undeliverable and tracking showed it has having gone to the Grantham Post Office. That's not the problem. It's the woman who works there. She is unnecessarily hostile and cranky.I showed up less than 2 hours after I got this tracking info. There was a gentleman working there and he seemed willing to help me but she swooped in before he could even look up my package and said "I sent it back." I hadn't even given her my name or anything, she just said they send all packages back to sender immediately if a physical address is listed. It's not like I went in there demanding anything, I just told him I was there to pick up a package that had been tracked to their location and she continued to argue with me about it, never checked in the back for it, never asked for any specific information about it, either, she just wanted me to leave. So I asked: so, if you sent it back, you would have scanned it, and I could see it was returned to sender, right? She said yes. So I pulled up the tracking info and gave it to the gentleman. I wanted nothing to do with her but she kept making it her business to intercede in this transaction, insisting she was right. that it was gone. So I told him the tracking information and sure enough, it said it was there. She went and grabbed it and made a huge deal about it but it was just this weird, overblown and unnecessarily aggressive transaction. The solution I think would help immensely with this situation is to get Amazon lockers and put them directly outside the post office for our neighborhood and all of the rural neighbors nearby. It would help us avoid this particular woman's wrath. And as you can see by the numerous complaints, I'm not the only one who feels this way.

More interested in rejecting your mail and returning your packages than actually getting them to you. Wasn't like this before.
Hope they replace Postmaster Dawn soon. If she doesn't want to help people she should be out of work. Other post offices aren't like this, something should be done.

This place is the worst. They send my packages back when they are having a bad day. Yet they consistently put other people's mail in my box. Every time I'm in there, I overhear customers asking about lost medication, lost documents, packages. There are a couple really nice employees that work there and a couple bad seeds that hate people and should not work in customer service.

Messy, disorganized, no longer have recycling. Whole interior needs work, including peoples attitudes. PO box that I just paid for a month prior was closed after just a few days of not clearing out our box due to being gone.(no mail of our own, only junk mail that the post office will no loner recycle. Why? Laziness.) Needs to be shutdown, renovated, and new managemen hired.

Rarely do I have a problem receiving a package or a piece of mail, so I was confused when I had to track down a time sensitive document that had been sent from the state offices a month ago. I just got word back that the post office sent it back despite the PO box number and overall address being correct. If you have an important document being sent to you via mail, I do not suggest trusting this post office to successfully deliver it to you. I agree with the sentiment of others that this location needs direct intervention and training performed by a manager in order for it to be what it once was.

This is probably the worst post office I’ve ever seen in my life, the woman runs the post office, I guess she’s the postmaster I don’t know, I was gone for three weeks, and I checked my mail the day before I left, and she’s basically yelling at me, telling me that it’s been two months since I’ve checked my mail, she was so unbelievable, unprofessional and disgusting. I’ve never seen nothing like it in my life and I’m gonna do what I need to do to make sure the postmaster general gets this review along with many other details, not included in this review. This woman does not deserve to be called a postmaster. The whole place is in disarray the outside of the building the paints falling off they don’t let you throw away your third class mail anymore and when they did they never picked it, I’ve been using this post office for 25 years and it seems like the last six months it’s gone downhill and I’m assuming it’s because of this new woman that is in charge with a huge chip on her shoulder.
