My wife and I could not be happier with our experience at the Loyal Hound with Jay. Our dog was born during COVID and was not able to get proper socialization before we rescued him due to the entire world being in isolation. As a result, he would get very worked up around strangers. This would include having our friends over to the house. My wife and I were to the point where we would only take short walks early in the morning (we live in the city) so he didn’t get stressed out and bark at anyone and everyone who came within 100 ft.Jay’s training included practice out in the community and exposure to strangers and kids. This was definitely a concern as our dog was anxious around children and we are at the age where our friends have little ones of their own.Our dog can now go out for walks and be near people, including busier times and busier trails. He still gets scared every once in a while, but not to the point where we can’t continue or work through it. He had completed previous trainings before and this was still a problem. Jay’s training has changed everything for us and we are forever grateful. We know it was a positive experience for our dog, too, because when we went back for a follow-up training session (Jay schedules a follow-up session for everyone as soon as the training program is complete) he was SO excited to be back and see Jay.It is also specifically worth noting that our experience was very different from other reviews. Jay has continued to be available and offer guidance with our dog, including follow-up sessions, even many weeks removed from the training now. He coached us through our dog meeting friends and having them over to the house. While our dog may always have some fear associated with meeting new people, he and we are better able to work through it with better outcomes in a way that will help him be less afraid of people in the long run.

I can't say enough about the Loyal Hound. I came to them after going through many trainers. My girl was a COVID puppy that became highly people and dog reactive. All of my previous rescue dogs did great with R+ only training, but with her, R+ was a joke. I lost count of the trainers we went through. We finally found a great balanced trainer, but she moved to North Carolina and recommended the Loyal Hound.I was a little nervous dropping off my almost 2 y.o. with them for three weeks and was worried she would forget our own commands we were working on or lose the parts of her personality that I loved. That never happened. Whenever I couldn't stand being away from her I'd just text Jay and would get videos and pictures of my girl being herself which helped me get through the time without her. When I went to pick her up I got a lesson on how to use her ecollar with their particular method. It took a bit to get used to their method but I was able to go back as many times as I needed to feel confident. On pickup day, I took home a different version of my girl. She was more calm and listened 100% of the time, not just when she felt like it.The Loyal Hound isn't a "set it and forget it" kind of fix for your dog - you have to put in the work, too. It's been a year since I picked her up and I still have questions from time to time, especially pertaining to unexpected happenings when I have her on the trails. When I reach out I always get responses with tips and sometimes a suggestion to come back in for another training session. Their involvement has never stopped.Being a GSD, my girl has tested me every step of the way, but I applied their method and today we are off leash in the woods. She still wears her ecollar when we are out, but it's rare that I have to use it. I remember the first time someone called her an awesome, well behaved trail dog - I teared up.She rarely reacts to people these days. I still make it a point to work with her and take her to places where she will see people and other dogs, but the experience is fun and no longer feels like work. The best part is that I no longer am on edge and can relax and have fun with my dog.Thank you, Loyal Hound. You gave my dog the life I always wanted for her and she loves it!

Jay is the absolute best and we recommend him 100%!We sent our pup to him a little over a year ago and the difference between before and after the bootcamp was incredible! Jay was able to get results, but more importantly he spent the time to help us be the best trainers for our dog. Since the bootcamp, Jay has been available for calls and coaching whenever we have needed it. He might not always be immediately available, but he makes time to help and make us feel more comfortable while training our dog, that really makes all the difference. The folks at The Loyal Hound love what they do and it shows. They are committed to helping all dogs become the best version of themselves. My family and my dog are forever grateful.

Jay does an amazing job with the training program. He both takes care of my dogs health and gets results when other places I've been to have not done either. It's worth the money and more, highly recommended.

I have now sent two of my dogs to training with Jay. Let me start by saying, my two dogs were not easy projects for any trainer. My first dog i sent to jay is a rescue with serious confidence issues, a fear of strangers, and many other challenges. My second i sent jay is a German Shorthaired pointer with arguably the most drive I’ve ever seen in a dog.Jay was able to both provide confidence to myself and my dogs, he was able to provide me with two dogs with almost instant recall when off- leash. I couldn’t recommend jay enough, and in fact, i still send my dogs to him for boarding when i go away as he is the only person i trust with them.

Jay trained my dog Lona a few years back after we noticed some behavioral problems and wanted to get her professional training. I was very happy with the results and he spent a lot of time showing me how to properly used the new commands. Jay also has boarded Lona for us when we've gone on vacations, which has been great knowing she's in good hands.

We highly recommend The Loyal Hound!! Our dog has been through their training program, we can’t speak highly enough about Jay and his staff. They are unlike any other trainer out there. We wouldn’t trust our pup with anyone else.

Where do I even start with this review? First of all, you pay and sign a contract before Jay and Eddie have even laid eyes on your dog or evaluated him in any such manner. How do you know if you can help the dog, if you haven't even met him? There is no signage on the building, where the training takes place and when asked about it I was told that it is so people don't bother them with wanting puppy training classes. Weird. Who runs a business without a sign stating who, what and where they are? Seems a bit shady to me! Next you drop your dog off to this unmarked building and you aren't even allowed to see where he will be staying and you have little to no say about the day and time of drop off and pick up! Where is the customer service in that? While my dog was in their care it was very hard to get a hold of Jay. I would text, leave voicemails and messages through Facebook with no success and when he did respond it was very ambiguous. "He's doing great and we're making progress'' was what I was told, with no specifics. My dog was there for aggression training because he was attacking our other dog. We had been told that we would work with both of our dogs on this during the third week. We, in fact, only worked on this at the pick up on the last day for 20 minutes. No wonder my dog's training failed on the 2nd week back. Lasty, when we signed up for this training we asked about how they go about training the dog and were told, "positive reinforcement, lots of treats," but when I picked my dog up she was trained 100% via e-collar. That was not okay. To quote the contract directly, "these tools and techniques which may include prong collar, bark collar, Remote training collar, pet convincer, and muzzles where necessary or appropriate" made it sound as though an e-collar might be used as needed, but not as the sole tool. I was not happy. Electrocuting my dog on the regular was never a part of my plan as a pet owner. I was told to follow up with Jay in three weeks from pick up to continue the training, but I never did. Why? Because I had to re-home my dog after two and a half weeks when the collar training failed and my husband and our other dog were injured. So now I'm out 3600 dollars and my dog. Thanks Loyal Hound.

Spent just over $3600 for 3wk training to correct my dog's behavioral issues. After 3wk picked my dog up and Jay instructed my husband and I on commands with shock collar. Few weeks later sent texts questioning when going to be taught the remaining commands. No response. Tried few more times and finally spoke with Jay. He suggested meeting up the day before Thanksgiving and would call me with a time. Never heard back. It's week before Christmas and all this was in September still no word.

I can't recommend this place. The program cost a LOT of money, and kind of every step of the process was a red flag:1) When we put in the address we were given, it was actually across the street from where we met Eddie and Jay. It's an unmarked front room at a Metal Works facility. There are no signs for their company anywhere. A banner is not expensive.2) We were not allowed to see where the dogs were crated. Not in person, not in pictures. We were told this was because they had reactive dogs in the building at the time, which, sure, that's what your business does, but I need to know where my dog is going to be sleeping for the next 4 weeks. But, at this point we had already given him $4000 that wasn't refundable, so we went with it anyway. 3) When I brought up points 1 and 2, Eddie IMMEDIATELY got defensive that I was attacking his credibilty. His response was that he has a decade of experience and Red Sox players have used him for training. You need to be able to answer basic questions like "where is my dog sleeping" without taking it as a personal attack. I wouldn't be coming to you if I didn't trust your experience, but that is a normal question for someone to ask. Why would I possibly care that an athlete uses you for training?4) There was no evaluation. We had a phone call with Eddie in advance to talk about our issues, but then had to pay him with no evaluation or in-person meeting. We dropped off our dog, and basically immediately were asked to leave. 5) We got almost zero communication in the entire 4 weeks he had our dog. My husband would text him and get literally no response, and I got a response maybe 60-75% of the time. I would get one sentence--"he's cool" or "he's doing great" or "it's going very good" with no further information. This went on for the first 3 weeks, and theoretically this was only a 3 week program. When I messaged him that we had heard almost nothing, I again got an incredibly defensive response. Me 4:00 PM: "Hi! How is training going?"Eddie 4:00 PM: "It's very good."Me 4:02 PM: "Any progress on him being reactive?"Nothing.Me 4:22 PM: "We haven't heard a lot from you in the past couple weeks about what you're doing or what sort of progress there has been, so we'd like some sort of update."Eddie 4:41 PM: "I'm sorry we update as requested. As far as training updates our training is done in stages. It's a process and we don't work on triggers till the communication is 100%."OK BUT THIS IS A REQUEST FOR AN UPDATE. As had the last...6 text messages between us? We heard literally nothing unless we reached out, and when we did we often still didn't get any sort of response. For all we know, our dog has been sitting in a crate for the last 4 weeks, and we threw more than two months' pay down the tubes. "He's good" is not an update. I get that this is a 2 person organization, but you need to be able to communicate with people. That's like job #1 here.6) The Loyal Hound website refers to a Denver facility, not a New Hampshire facility, and mentions a person named Corinna who doesn't work out of the New Hampshire site at all. Probably should correct the links or clarify what's going on there. I don't understand the distinction between The Loyal Hound and the Academy for Dogs and Etiquette Academy for Dogs. Who works at which? Is it just a name change? 7) When we picked up our dog, we didn't see Eddie at all, and worked with a man named Jay. Our dog was FILTHY--greasy, dirty, and he stank. We have a pitbull. He doesn't really need baths because he doesn't get greasy. What happened to him while he was gone? We worked with our dog and Jay for maybe an hour going over how to use a shock collar, and he acknowledged that our dog was pretty calm but could get overwhelmed and would get reactive. We did not discuss what to do when that happens because again they wanted us to work o
