Great prices, zero frills but very clean rooms, comfy bed, clean (if outdated) bath. Office building is a cool time travel into 60s vibe history and has a wonderful cool little speakeasy cigar and cocktail bar, super fun and great people. One of the owners Ruby was just so friendly and knowledgeable, it was like staying with family!

If you stayed @ a hotel in the 70s & 80's this is the type of hotel you'll be in. VHS VCRs & older cathode ray tube televisions. Free selection of movies to choose from in the lobby. Neither room of the four rented had a flat screen. Very limited channel selection & 1 is Canadian French language.Old school metal keys w/plastic tag indicating room number used for access. You HAVE to return @ check out.Bed was comfortable, but the pillows were not. Towels & linen are not as bright as they were at one time. Everything seems to be dated as stated above. You get the dreaded cloth shower curtain that refuses to NOT stick to your BUTT as one might effort to bathe. Front desk people are quite friendly. Very limited "continental breakfast". Parking spaces in front of each room.Hope this was informative.

Incredible experience with two wonderful people for running the show! Mrs. Ruby and her husband were so welcoming and helpful right down the recommendations for breakfast the following day, The compass rose lounge and accompanying cigar bar make the trip complete. I wouldn’t think of anywhere else to stay in the area. Wonderful people, clean rooms and a great atmosphere.

The Lancaster with it accompanying lounge, the Compass Rose, is a great motel and piece of Americana. The lounge with its music on the weekend is wonderful. Courtney and Emily were great at the bar. The Lancaster is a classic 50 style motel. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The owners, Ruby and Brian, are some of the nicest people I’ve met. We have stayed here twice this year and look forward to our next trip up to Lancaster NH.

I highly recommend the Lancaster Motel. We were visiting with famiply for a wedding and I'm really glad that I found it. The managers and owners Brian and his wife Ruby have restored this motel built in the fifties to its original glory with a lot of nice touches. We we're wishing we able to check out the live music that was featured on Friday and Saturday but because of the wedding festivities we missed it. The continental breakfast was better than most I've had in a motel or hotel. Great coffee and real milk with a large variety of things to eat. The best part was learning about some of the amazing features of the building like a hidden cigar bar placed in a perfect original setting complete with a special ventilation system to remove the smoke from the room. The rooms are very simple and I love the minimalist look- exposed brick, no cheesy motel art. the beds are really comfortable and the sheets are nice with a simple white duvet (no cheesy motel bedspreads) and lovely pillows. We hope to be returning to stay here again. Teri from Baltimore

We decided to stay here for our visit to Santa's Village. The couple running the hotel are the absolute sweetest people. They made us feel right at home. They have done an amazing job changing the motel since they bought it. They are continuously updating it. We spent plenty of time in their cocktail lounge and cigar lounge. We were treated to wonderful live music on both Friday and Saturday. The rooms were so cozy, and there were no issues at all through our stay. It's perfectly located so you can walk to any shops or restaurants on Main Street. We can't wait to go back and stay with them again!

The rooms are okay: showing some signs of age, with uneven floors, and small, cheap-feeling bathrooms. We slept well enough. We loved the bar! It seems to be a town hub on Friday nights, with live music and good, affordable drinks. The breakfast was fine, and it was free.

Was in town for the weekend and was recommended this place. Fantastic owners, great room, no issues whatsoever. The bar with live music was a great ending to my long weekend, will definitely be back!

Mrs Ruby and her husband were amazing. They were so friendly and helpful. I was the for a weekend stay with family to lay my father to rest. The motel is so retro and relaxing. The lounge and cigar bar were amazing. They are doing a great job updating it but keeping it retro also.Walkability: To all the little shops and businesses on Main Street.Food & drinks: The lounge has very good drinks to go with anyone of the cigars you may purchase

Did not stay at the motel, but did visit the lounge inside. The people running the motel are very kind, welcoming, and courteous, making you feel very at home. They have a very nice selection of cigars as well as a large selection of drinks to pair along with them. Did not stay to enjoy the cigars, but a very welcoming place and a great retro atmosphere. I highly recommend!

A minimum 2 nite stay-are you serious!? My MBA tells me that the loss of revenue you see as a result of this absurd policy FAR outweighs your operating costs of 1 x-tra day of 'cleaning'!

I stepped back into 60's hip to a great room at a fair price. If I need a place in the NH North Country I'll stay here.
