I have been to this establishment a few times. Today my wife and I stopped by for some chicken. She got three piece finger meal, I got bone in chicken three piece meal. They call their potato wedges jojos I'm from the south. They were excellent. The chicken was so fresh and juicy. I will recommend this place only if the older ladies are working the deli. If anyone else is there you don't really know. I recommend. Best chicken we have had in quite some time.

Four stars, for a gas station, is really a Top Score. Jakes has a small deli counter with a decently large menu. I’ve tried different sammies here; and I’ve never been disappointed.
The Roadies chicken is also top notch, especially if you catch them filling the bins. Depending on the time of day, the fried chicken can sit for a bit. I especially like that you can specify the parts, and not just say “white” or “dark”. What can I say? I’m a thigh guy.
I love the potato wedges, though a “serving” of four is too much, even for this glutton! Split an order, and you will still be well fed.
The folks behind the deli counter seem disconnected w the rest of the store. Deli folks are always friendly and accommodating. But, you still have to pay at the OTHER counter. The less than cordial folks there are a sharp contrast. They put a bitter taste in your mouth. Good thing the food cleans that right out!

I stopped In here off local word of the fried chicken. Now let me tell you, I've been up and down the eastern seaboard and I've had the liberty of trying fried chicken below the Bible Belt. This place knows what they're doing. Best fried chicken, best sauces. Hidden gem. Goes great with their gigantic homemade cookies, with a fresh hot coffee. Great place to eat especially if you're on and off the road.

Prefer paninis that are at least warmed up. Cheese and ingredients still cold. Point is to heat it up so all the flavors meld together. Drove a ways to get here as it was good in the past. Not sure Covid related.

Is a Rueben supposed to have warm bread, cold corned beef and cheese? This is what I got after waiting 20 minutes! They obviously had buttered the bread but cooked it so little it was barely melted, let alone toasted. Imagine how that looks... And what's up with people who are making sandwiches , but apparently never eat them? I always lump everything in one big pile in the middle and try not to cover all the bread. Isn't that how a sandwich is supposed to be? You'd think that nowadays. Not limited to this place by any means. Soda was not cold, check out lady very nice, deli crew unkempt and uncool.

This place is so much more than just a gas station. They have the best deli counter on Mechanic Street, great sandwiches for breakfast and lunch, burgers, specialty salads. The staff is super friendly,t food is delicious and a great value, and they have Roadies fried chicken which is a giant bonus. Don't drive past, come in and grub up.

So I'm not gonna lie, I just needed to come in for a quick buy so I can make change. I smelt the damn deliciousness of the frying in the back right corner of this underrated establishment. I took a gander and was greeted by a man, that I didn't ask his name. He sold me on the Texas burger. During the preparation of my newly needed craving, he acted like I was at a hibachi restaurant with them grill skills! Jake's, ya grill boy was lit and this burger was straight fire! 10 out of 5 stars my friends! There was no tip jar! Get this man a raise! Anyway, I spent more than I intended and my original plan to just get change was ruined, but you got yourself a returning customer.

It a flop of a coin when you call whether or not someone will pick up the phone when you call. And when you're transferred to the deli it's another flip whether or not they'll just put the phone down do what they were doing because you can hear them have a private conversation in the backround. Out of curiosity one day, I stayed on the line for 15 minutes listening to their conversation and seeing if they would ever actually come back to the phone. Spoiler alert, they didn't.

I live about 2 miles from Jake's so it is Convenient for me. We buy most all our fuel at Jake's. We enjoy the savings of 5 cent off Sunday's along with using our Shaws store card. In this day and age we have to find ways to SAVE, all we can. Thank you for being our ONE STOP shop
